Metabolic formulas are specialty formulas designed for specific medical requirements.  There are several types of formula in this class, depending on the condition they are designed for.  The following are a few of the formulas in this class.

Calcio XD - Designed for Hypercalcemia, as may occur in infants with Williams syndrome, osteopetrosis and when a low-calcium/vitamin D-free formula is needed.

Cyclinex-1 - Nutrition support of infants and toddlers with a urea cycle disorder, gyrate atrophy of the choroid and retina, or HHH syndrome.

Hominex-1 - Nutrition support of infants and toddlers with vitamin B6-nonresponsive homocystinuria.

I-Valex-1 - Nutrition support of infants and toddlers with isovaleric acidemia or other disorders of leucine catabolism.

Ketonex-1 - Nutrition support of infants and toddlers with branched-chain ketoaciduria (maple syrup urine disease--MSUD) and beta-ketothiolase deficiency.

Phenex-1 - Nutrition support of infants and toddlers with phenylketonuria (PKU) or hyperphenylalaninemia.

Pro-Phree - Nutrition support of infants and toddlers requiring reduced protein intake, specific mixture of L-amino acids or increased energy, minerals and vitamins.


Propimex-1 - Nutrition support of infants and toddlers with propionic or methylmalonic acidemia.

RCF - For persons who are unable to tolerate the type or amount of carbohydrate in milk or infant formulas; or seizure disorders requiring a ketogenic diet.

Tyrex-1 - Nutrition support of infants and toddlers with tyrosinemia type I, II or III.
