GERD pain question
I talked to Eric this morning, about food, eating, tummy aches, etc
He tried to avoid it, but once I told him I wasn't trying to get him to eat, and that he didn't have to eat, I had his full attention and cooperation

He said that in the morning it feels like a punch in the stomach. He was and is usually fluxy and burpy in the morning, and a little horse. We give him his prilosec right away, but I'm sure it takes a minute to kick in.

What I'm wondering is... the punch in the tummy feeling... Can GERD cause that, or do you think it's most likely due to something else?

I mean I never feel that way when I have had heartburn problems

Here I was thinking the guy was tummy ache free, so him telling me this is kinda surprising. I know his bad tummy aches are better if not gone, and his lower aches and groin and back pain are gone.

He is on an antibiotic that he takes with his prilosec both at night and first thing in the morning. Could the antibiotic make him feel this way?

Re: GERD pain question
Could be reflux, could be something else. I doubt an antibiotic would do that, though they do do some funky things to your stomach sometimes.
I'm so helpful, lol.

Re: GERD pain question
Maybe it's like a tightness he's feeling? I really don't know, Minnie...Ava's not the best at telling me what the pain is like.

Re: GERD pain question
Minnie,
I remember you responded to my post about Flagyl. Is that the antibiotic he takes twice a day? My son is too young to verbalize his symptoms but I can tell you he was extremely unhappy during the 2 weeks of flagyl AND the 2 weeks after. He takes a probiotic that has 225 million bacteria per dose which I think is helping.

Re: GERD pain question
nah, not flagyl this time. This is amox for an ear infection. It's day 7 on it, and we only have 3 more days.
Maybe he'll feel better once we stop the stuff?

It's weird, Eric felt awesome on the flagyl and it lasted almost 3 weeks, the first time we tried it, but the second round OMG he was miserable, it didn't do a thing for him.
I'm thinking he really needed the stuff the first time for bacterial over growth, but the second time was just over board because the bacteria was already irradiated KWIM?
