My poor Jennifer. She is always congested from the reflux. She had been wheezing on/off for about a week which we figured was the reflux. Well after wheezing most of the day yesterday with no off episodes she was seen by the pedi and diagnosed with bronchiolitis. She is home and on breathing treatments for at least a couple days. I guess here we start with the reflux related breathing issues or maybe just a little bit of both. I was hoping to avoid bronchiolitis this winter since she gets the RSV shots but since there are many resp viruses we cannot stop all of them. Anyway she goes for her first pedi GI appt on Tues. Hoping for good news.

I'm sorry Jennifer is sick, Tracey. Maybe she'll improve since winter is wrapping up (you know ... only another month or so. Brrrrrr!)

Hi Tracey...
NO matter what you do, they always seem to get some bug or other....
 to Jennifer.. hopefully the wheezing will settle down with the breathing treatments.
Good luck with your Ped appt and don't forget to update us! :-)

It is a shame when you realize that even regular vaccinations are not a guarantee of immunity. There are so many viruses out there and it is so very hard for asthmatics to avoid them all. My middle son always goes chesty with any upper respiratory ailment and my youngest is always compromised due to his asthma being linked to his GERD so I hear you on the constant congestion.

We have something brewing here as well. It is so hard to lock onto something when the kid is always icky anyway, but we have noticed the cough is worse and Iain is rattling again.

Kudos to you for keeping a good eye on that and getting your kiddo in for help early. And I am hoping for good news for you and Jennifer too.

She started wheezing again this past week. Pedi thinks from her ear infection. Probably an ear infect from refluxing and the wheezing from the infection dripping and her aspirating it. They are now saying she "may" have reactive airway disease. It just never ends!

tracey,

Are you doing the breathing treatments frequently enough to keep the crud from settling in between treatments? When my daughter was very sick with bronchiolitis and the flu two weeks ago, we did neb treatments every hour for 12 hours and have gradually backed down to every four hours, which we continue to do and likely will continue to do indefinitely.
