View Full Version : Feeder Bags?
Asher's Mom 02-10-2006, 02:26 PM Has anyone used those mesh feder bags? Asher's feeding therapist suggested trying it because he enjoys sucking on and gumming things especially since he has started teething. I'll try anything to give this kid a positive experience with food since it seems to be such a negative thing for him.
Becky in NM 02-10-2006, 02:28 PM We have quite a few since everyone thought they'd be great for Daniel. He never took to them, but I'd definitely let Asher give it a try. They're great because they can't get a piece big enough to choke on .
sixdogssixcats 02-10-2006, 02:29 PM We tried one with Catherine but she wasn't inclined to put anything in her mouth at the time (6-7mo), and we never got it out again. A lot of kids love them, though.
AndrewsMommy 02-10-2006, 02:37 PM I have heard of them, but never tried them on either one of my boys. Definately sounds like it is worth the try!!
Asher's Mom 02-10-2006, 02:38 PM Thanks ladies, I'm going to give it a try...I called my husband at work and asked him to pick one up. It can't hurt to try, and they are cheap enough so if he doesn't like it, it won't be a big deal.
We have them for Bethy--she prefers to chew on the handles. :-) Of course, anything that remotely resembles food sets of her radar and she immediately rejects it!
Some friends of mine have used them with success. Can't hurt to try. :-)
Let us know how Asher likes it!
Emily M 02-10-2006, 02:48 PM Amy, I had them with my twins and they LOVED them. I used to put bananas in them and they would gnaw on them for ever. They are quite messy, but a good investment, I think!:smt047
OwensMom 02-10-2006, 03:15 PM We have them for Owen and he loves them. I would definitly give them a try.
Miori 02-10-2006, 06:57 PM We have them but haven't used them yet. My nephew loves them, though! My brother said that for teething, put an ice cube in them for a bit of teething relief.
EmmasMommy 02-10-2006, 07:10 PM Emma will only suck/gnaw on her's if it has ice in it and she's teething. I put any type of food in it and she hurls it across the room. Like Bethany, she is anti-food. :(
I would definitely try it with Asher. He may love it! Let us know how it works out! :)
sarahh 02-10-2006, 07:33 PM They are a new thing here and expensive ($35-00 for 2!!!). Unfortunately I didn;t realise such a thing exsisted until the boys were a little too old for them. ANyway, some of the ladies here have had gogod success with them so it won't hurt to try if they're not tooo expensive!!
Emily M 02-10-2006, 09:17 PM Sarahh~ Whoa! Ours aren't that expensive here! I think I have a catalog with them in it and they are like $4.99 or something.
Asher's Mom 02-16-2006, 01:13 PM Well, he is enjoying gnawing on pieces of pear in the bags but I think it's due to teething. He doesn't really swallow any fruit or juice and wears most of it. It is encouraging to see him have some experience with food that doesn't make him upset though. Thank you all for your input about the feeder bags.

That is a really good start, then!
EmmasMommy 02-16-2006, 10:31 PM I'm glad to hear he likes them! :iconbigg:
