Hi, I'm Jim and I live in North Texas with my supporting wife and beautiful son. My wife and I have several concerns that lead us to believe Connor might have Sensory Integration Dysfunction. We have an appointment with a Pediatrician we trust and would like to do some research on our own. Does anyone know where we can find statistical information on this dysfunction? Number of children, how long the dysfunctrion is prevalent, etc.
Thanks for the help.

I don't know the statistics, Jim, but my 3 1/2 yo. son, Evan, has it. I don't anticipate that he'll outgrow it. He was diagnosed by his OT last winter, but has dealt with many of the symptoms all his life. There's a great checklist at the following link. www.sensory-processing-disorder.com/sensory-processing-disorder-checklist.html What concerns do you have about Connor?

If you could post some of his symptoms and your concerns we may be able to be of better help.
By the way, what a cutie!:iconbigg:

Thanks so much for the help. Our biggest concerns are that Connor doesn't like to be touched. We can't really touch Connor's face without him completely breaking down, arching his back and taking him to his room to be alone. He doesn't use any words at 14 months and is a very finicky eater. About the oly thing we can get him to eat is apple sauce and mashed potatoes. This makes us think it might be a texture issue.

Catherine is like that about her nose. I suspect it's because we have to clean it out so often. She's pushing 13 months and doesn't have any words either. But she will eat anything ... as long as it comes in a stage 2 jar!
We lived in North Texas until last summer ... when we decided it wasn't hot enough and headed south.
