I am wanting to try my boys out with egg..... I'm terrified to do so though as my hubby and eggs do not go together. I wouldn't say he has an allergy but as soon as he eats eggs (straight, not just a bit of egg in a dish) he is quite ill with V&D.
I'm worried the boys may not have the stomach for it either.
How can I introduce it slowly and what should I look for if they do happen to be allergic...??
TIA

I could be totally wrong, but I think I heard that you're supposed to introduce the yolks (either pulled from hard boiled eggs or separated raw and then scrambled) first and not the whites...? (I *think* the albumin [sp?] in the whites is a potential allergen.)

Can anyone else verify this?

Yeah,
I think it's yolks first too!

Eric had yolks just last month and did fine.
We just now started with the whole egg.

Good Luck!
I hope they can both do eggs because gets a great source of protein and fat.

I think it's egg yolk until 1, then you can introduce whole eggs. The ped. gave us the OK at Cady's 1-year-check-up. Cady doesn't like eggs, so we haven't really given them too much, though.

Judy's right, egg yolk from 7 or 8 months until a year...after 1 you can do the whites...HOWEVER, if the boys haven't even had yolks, I'd start w/that first anyhow. Just start with a teenie, tiny bit and see. That's what I do when Zac has any kind of new food (although food allergies do not run in our genes except for DH's sister). He has never reacted to anything but better safe than sorry. I'd just try a little bit at first. Good luck!

Technically, yes, the egg yolk is the least likely to be allergenic. But, it's almost impossible to seperate the egg yolk from the egg white, so if you're allergic to one, you generally avoid the whole thing. Have they ever had anything w/ eggs in it? Waffles, pancakes, birthday cake? If so and no problems, I'd just fry them up and egg and let them have it. There is no guarentee though that if they don't react this time, that they'll be fine next time though (I'm just full of good news). AJ was fine w/ eggs till about 14 mos and then all of a sudden was very intolerant to them. He was fine by 19 mos though (we completely avoided them) and is still fine now. We think Evan's egg issues started at 5 mos and of course he's never had anything w/ egg in it ever, just through my milk. He won't get egg anytime soon. Good luck. You might want to get some Benadryl and keep it close just in case.
