My kid is a strange being... she is now eating table foods for dinner and very thick cereal with pureed fruit mixed in for Breakfast... I still havent gotten a "lunch" meal in but thats because of time issues not her. She would probably eat it too!

Anyway, she's not even 8 months old and she is already eating Lil' Entrees and Pasta Pick ups. Of course she also eats whatever we're eating as well... literally... some of my pizza (no sauce), tacos (not the spicey meat), cheeseburgers, everything... she is crazy and she LOVES eating off my fork! lol She even asks for more with a "mmm mmm mmm" and if I dont hear her she opens her mouth and "raises her voice" lol so I do and give her more.

She loves her Gerber puffs and Alphabits, and she is now eating Gerber Graduates Vanilla Cereal Snackin' Squares... they are little square cookie things.

She's really cutting down her bottles though and it worry's me... she still doesnt eat more than 6ounces at a time and now she is going longer after eating her meals and not wanting a bottle as soon so I run out of time in the day to get in 4 bottles... do you think it's time to get her on three meals a day and three bottles?? Right now when I try to get four in her she will only take an ounce or two in the middle of the day. So instead of giving it to her now I wait til she wants it... but is three bottles of 12-18 ounces and 3 meals really enough at her age?

Ok thats enough! :) Thanks

Hi there Michele..
Maybe Kaitlyn is going to be an early eater. At around 8-9 months the boys self-weaned themselves off bottles. I think the 12-18 oz of formula is fine, seeing as she is eating 3 meals a day. I would also offer her morning and afternoon snacks. By 9 months we were down to 2 bottles a day of around 5-6oz each (am and pm). They also had the fromula in with their morning porridge. They still do that amount now (well, more like 4oz in the am and pm) and eat 3 meals a day plus 2 snacks.
They told me that self-weaning was great... and be led by the baby as it means they don't really need it. Make sure that you offer the sippy cup with water/baby juice in it i=to keep her hydrated. Although, my boys don't drink an awful lot at any other time of the day (unless it's hot).
The boys love eating off a fork too....it's very cute to see.....

Oh, how I wish Kaitlyn would teach Bethany this!

I don't know--she sounds like some of my friends' kids. A couple of them just sort of took off around 8 or 9 months and started chowing away on food. Perhaps you have an eating machine on your hands!

Thanks guys. Yeah, I KNOW she's only eating because she isnt hurting anymore... we went through plenty of those "not eating" times.

I just didnt think this stuff happened until they were older, but then again my kid is practically walking so why wouldnt she want real food? lol

Well now it's off to reschedule my day to fit in three meals.... oh man this is where being a mom gets tough! This I have no idea how to do... making a schedule?? BAH! It's been nice so far not having to depend on food and just making sure she gets her bottles, lol.

Ok well if anyone has any suggestions, let me know!

ONce you start the routine Michele, I promise it does get easier. It's just starting that's the hard part. I love going out now.. all I have to take is a few crackers, a sandwich and a couple of jars of babyfood and I know I can be gone for however long and don't need to worry about bottles and where I'm going to heat them etc. Also, with 2, feedtimes for me have become a lot easier as they feed most of it to themselves!! Be prepared for her to want anything and everything off your plate.. even if she's just eaten!!!! We get that alot around here. and it's hard having 2 little people hanging off your legs looking at you like a little sparrow with their mouth open!!!!
The thing I find hard now, is thinking of VARIETY of foods for the boys to try. And beacuse Kaitlyn is just that little bit smaller, her choices will be a bit limited until she reaches a year old. Have fun!!!! DOn't forget though that for her, bottles are still really importnat. :-D

Michele, will Kaitlyn take her milk out of a sippy cup???
Isn't it odd what the pain did to our kiddos??? we have Nubbies here, the top is super soft, like a nipple, maybe that would work. Just a suggestion.
Oh, and feeding 3 solid meals a day is no sweat, you'll get it! Once I got started with the girls it was a breeze!

Her formula is thickened so it wont go through her Sippy, she has an Avent one and she will drink water and juice (w/water) out of it but I havent been consistant with giving it to her because most of the time she just chews on the sippy cup.

I really gotta try to work it out... I might have to get some ideas of how other peoples days are routined. I think I know what to do but I gotta literally write it out until I get used to doing it... and then days where I have to go out or take hubby to work are going to be annoying... ugh!
