I tried giving Aidan some barley cereal today and yesterday....and he screamed right after he was done for 2 hours....I did give him a smaller bottle than he is used to after he was done and he didn't take all of it just cried. He loved every bite of it while he was eating it. Could that mean he does not tolerate barley?? He had a light rash on his chest afterward too....not too sure if that is from the screaming though as his eyebrows turn red and his face gets splotchy when he cries. As soon as he has another bottle he is fine though. What do you ladies think? Did he not get enough to eat and maybe I need to offer more formula afterwards. I am so confused right now.

Sounds like it could be. If you want to "test" it again, you need to keep the barley out of his diet for, oh shoot... is it 2 weeks?... and then you can challenge it again.

I hope one of the more savvy allergy-aware moms pipes up.

I am not one of the "savvy allergy-aware moms" that Lucy referred too, but I do know that barley is difficult for some babies to handle, and my ped recommended waiting until 6 months to try it.

Thanks ladies....I will not be giving Aidan any barley for a while!!!!
