Ok, for some reason, Jackson has decided to NOT EAT! He is throwing a fit when I try to give him his bottle. He will take his last bottle of the night at 10pm. and he gets up at 4am and he will guzzle it, but in the morning, maybe 2 oz. then all day today he has hardly eaten anything! He HAS TO BE HUNGRY! I just don't know what to do! GRRRR.............:banghead: :banghead:
I hate reflux! Thanks for listening! does anyone have any suggestions?????:hairpull: :hairpull: :hairpull:

Let it go for a few days and let him eat what he will... if he doesnt up his intake or starts losing weight then start freaking out lol

Thats what I did... I got sick of worrying and fighting... if anything just take a couple days off from the fight and give yourself a break! :)

You deserve it! Hope that helps!!

Ugh...been there and it is frustrating! Like Michelle said, give it a few days and see how he is. Joshua did the same thing off and on for a few weeks or so. I was only concerned if his mood or energy level changed.

It's the pits, I know!

Is this a new thing for him? If so then I would look to our foe "teething" as a possible culprit or maybe something is brewing in terms of a cold.

Otherwise, I know what you mean about refusal. Iain would take over 50% of his intake often 75 % via sleepy night feeds as he would reflux so much during the day. Do you think his refusal is due to reflux or is he just so darn busy he resents being stopped to eat? It can be a combo of things and I would relax (HA! I said that with a straight face!) and just keep an eye on his intake and behaviour.

Emily...I never had any problems with Andrew eating, except when he is sick, and his doctor always told me to put milk in a syringe and squirt a little in his mouth every 15 minutes or so..That way you know he is getting something rather then nothing..

Try that and hope it helps!!!

Good luck and keep us posted on your sweet liitle guy

So, this is what I did
First off, Leigh, he goes through this, sometimes he will eat really well, then for a couple of days, he will throw a FIT! :banghead:
I decided to fix him some cereal in a bowl with this formula and try spoon feeding him for his 6 pm bottle. He LOVED it! He didn't gag, not one single time, usually when I get near him with his bottle he starts gagging and coughing, maybe he's a little dramatic. But, he took quite a bit, then after his bath, he took about an oz of his bottle before konking out, he didn't nap at all today. So, maybe my new plan of action to get some in him will be to spoon feed him morning and evening. But, maybe tomorrow he will change his mind and not like the spoon! Who knows!!!!
Thanks everyone!

No suggestions. I know that when Ian wasn't keeping much down or he was refusing the bottles, I had to step up the nighttime feeds. I hated to be up (I am not a high functioning person in the first place... and no sleep doesn't help), but it was necessary. I didn't cut out nighttime feeds until he consistently ate more during the day. Being sleepy and having the room very dim seemed to help him just settle into a bottle.

You probably already have thought of this (seeing you've had twins already) but could Jackson be ready for a larger nipple hole?

When Em was 5 months old she was fighting the bottle and seemed frustrated. I realized that she was on the newborn nipple still, and moved her up to the next level.

It took her a day or two to get used to the new flow, but it solved the bottle frustration for the time-being.

Just an idea.

Thanks girls! Amanda, I already cut his nipples bigger (not HIS nipples, but the bottle LOL:rolling: because I've had to make his formula so thick, it won't hardly come out of regular nipples (bottle, not mine! LOL) Oh enough of this! You get my drift! Thanks though!

Nothing else to add, but just wanted to say that the boys had phases where they wouldn't drink and in the end I gave the odd feed here and there a miss if it was too difficult. We were lucky that it was only aphase.. so annoying and frustrating though...

Parker still to this day will only have his morning bottle. He too usually wakes scremaing and guzzles it like he is putting out a fire (he does do 6-8oz though). I tried to feed him throught the days and it hasn't worked. So what I do is give him the bottle first thing and I supplement it with something called sustagen which adds cals and vitamins.
