So, part two of our story;
You all know about our adventure with Nestle Quick and I thought
1. the dye yellow 5
2. the corn syrup
I switched him to RTF Alimentum, no corn products whatsoever, yesterday he started refusing again. So I fixed him a bottle with Nutramigen and he took it immediately and was fine. I did not see any difference in the Alimentum, of course maybe it hadn't been long enough.
But today I decided to do some detective work and see what the other things in the Nestle Quick could have been
I looked and looked, then came to a sight that talked about MSPI and what other things had milk protein in it that you wouldn't think about, caramel flavoring and caramel coloring was one
Nestle Vanilla Quick has caramel color, so this very well could have been the problem, just that little bit of Milk protein was enough to hurt his tummy.
I will be finished with my medical degree by Friday! LOL This is what my dh tells me, leave the kid alone!
Oh well, I guess for now we are on Nutramigen with red rimmed watery eyes!?:dontknow:

I would try Neocate and see what happens. That should let you know pretty fast if corn is an issue (after you get him taking it well) as it's corn based.

I thought I was the only one going blind reading all the labels!:smt036 It is hard to play detective, isn't it? But it can sure be well worth it.

Are you finding the book any use to you? Mine is so thumbed now I may need a new copy!:laughing:

Speaking of other weird things kids can react to, I was also told to stay away from artificial sweeteners and peppermint...? It's on my list of milk no-no's from the GI's office. *Adds caramel color to her ever growing list, thankful that Dr. Emily pointed this out!*
