Sorry about this but I have to ask...when Noah was on the Zantac his symptoms were the neck movements, mild congestion, hiccups & back arching. Now with the Prevacid I have severe congestion, hiccups, spit up, & neck movements & back arching (only right before he due for his next dose). I'm on day 11. Its almost 2 weeks on the Prevacid. My main concern is the severe congestion. It seems so thick in the back of his throat. I've tried the humidifier, saline, etc with no relief. Have any of you experience severe congestion when changing to different meds possibly those that don't work?

Hmmm, Could it not be a cold, they seem to be going around. Having said that, our son did awful with prevacid! He was a mess wit the same symptoms but was older so he was able to tell me his tummy was hurting ALL THE TIME. So, we took him off. Prilosec didn't do that though, it was our miracle drug.

He does have a cold & it started when we started the Prevacid. It's hard to tell what it is. I guess its the waiting game but I'm just impatient. Want a fix it drug when that's not realistic. Thanks for the info though.

We are all impatient when it comes to our little ones, we don't want them suffering! Keep us posted!

We have very thick mucous here too. Sam is on prevacid, but he had this "congestion" all the time- even on other meds. It seems to me that Sam's is in his throat as well, but he does have some nasal drainage. Not sure why. Guess I have never asked if it was related to meds he was on. Sorry I am not much help.

Sam has always had congestion issues. We have to give him medication to keep his secretions at a minimal level or he coughs on his own spit. but I think it has to do with is swallowing issues

We've always had congestion issues as well. Jackson was on Zantac first and now Prevacid. I didn't notice that his congestion got worse on the Prevacid. His is really bad first thing in the morning. Yuck!

Oh My Gosh! What does Samual have all over him, LOL? So cute!!

Eli always had reflux congestion too. Hopefully, it is just the cold making it worse and not the new meds.

Hmmm...Bethy didn't do so well in Prevacid, but no congestion to report. I'm very lucky in that respect--she's not normally a congested/mucous-y kid.

What does your doc say about this? Could it be a coincidental cold?

...sorry, that wasn't very helpful, was it...?

It could be his cold that has somehow lasted 2 wks. Its just that the congestion started to get worse around the same time he started the Prevacid. I thought maybe it was related. I've been putting Vicks on his neck & it seems to be getting better. There isn't much nasal drainage anymore. I guess the colds just make matters worse. THanks everyone for your input! Appreciate it.

When we started supplementing w/Good Start Heidi got congested . . . like a cold that wouldn't go away. Turned out to be cow's milk allergy. When talking w/my lactation consultant she said that congestion and skin irritations (eczema) are some of the first signs of allergies. Just a thought.

Good luck, hope he feels better soon.

That's funny you say that. Before we knew he had reflux we tried Gentelease & then soy. With the soy his congestion went away but he screamed when we fed him so we thought it was the formula & changed to Nutramigen. Now we know it was the reflux & not the formula but he did so well with the Nutramigen that we left it as is. We have not confirmed an allergy. He has eczema too. From what the ladies have said on this site the Prevacid has dairy so I'm wondering maybe it is a milk allergy. I'm just thinking out loud. Thanks for the input Nicole!
