I am now dealing with my 2.5 year old son and reflux. He was born with it and grew out of it at 12 m. In the past couple of months he startedt to complain of pain. He is getting hives and when he doesn't have hives his cheeks are bright red. He will also get hives on his tummy and red watery eyes but not as offten as the hives on his face. As a baby he was diagnosed with being allergic to milk, eggs, and a bunch of other things. At two he was challenged with the milk and eggs and he seems to have out grown it. He recently was allergy tested again and all of the allergies he was allergic two (9 months ago) have all come back neg. Even the allergy we have been caring an epi for.

Now that you know some of the history, I was reading some of the posts about not showing up as an allergy but still not being tollerated and causing MSPI??? What do those letters stand for?

Thanks
Sue

MSPI stands for Milk Soy Protein Intolerance.

Hives are an allergy sign, not MSPI. What tests did you have? I'm assuming the SPT (skin tests). Did you have the RAST too (blood draw)? Generally MSPI is something babies have and outgrow by age 5, it's not generally something that shows up after infancy (though some can miss the diagnosis in infancy). Did they tell you what they tested for? Allergy tests are very weird and can't 100% be trusted unfortunately. It took AJ over a month to fail his last milk challenge and once everyone gets well we're hoping to try soy w/ him and carrots w/ Evan.
