I probably should post this on the 'need to vent' board, but it is kind of a question too. I'm just so fed up with having try different medications all the time! It just seems like no one has any idea what to do with infant reflux.

After our pedi appointment this morning we're supposed to do 3 ml of Prevacid in the morning, Zantac twice a day (afternoon & bedtime) and Maalox throughout the day too. It just seems like this is getting crazy!!

We did, thankfully, get a referral to a GI ped...so hopefully he'll know more and can give us more gudiance.

I'm trying to be patient through all of this, but it's just getting so frustrating.

Is it always like this with trying to find the right meds??

Sleep deprived and frustrated,
Nicole

Yes, unfortunately meds. seem to be a trial and error kind of thing to see what works. Different meds. seem to work for different kids, and Zantac is often the first med. that doctors will try.

I'm glad you got a referral for the GI, he should be able to give you more guidance. That seems like a lot of meds to be giving a 2 mos. old.

Hi

I've been dealing with this for 2+yrs and with both kids..and YES I have to say as much as i HATE it...it's all trial and error
The cruddy part is sometimes you still can't find a working combo!
With my 9mnth old dd we tried pepcid, nexium, zegerid, compounded prevacid and finally tried compounded prilosec and it;s worked well..she is happy and naps, and I've just about given up on the notion of her sleeping well at night

With my 2+yr old ds..he was on zantac, prevacid, prilosec and on Nexium for a LONG time and recently switched to prevacid tabs...he still has good/bad days

Sorry to sound like such a downer...guess it's been a rough day
i hope you get help from the GI!

Unfortunately, yes, it is like this with reflux meds. Hang in there, once you find something that works it will all be worth it! I understand how frustrating it is though, It is a real pain, especially when watching your child suffer.
