Oh for the life of me I can't pull your name out of the hidden file in my brain. I am sorry. I was one wondering if you were able to start speech therapy for your DD? And if so what do they have you doing since she is so young? My Sister has a son with ashburgers (sp?) and now her 23 month son is starting to have some red flags. He is using a strange sign launguage and grunts to comunicate and has a vocab of 17 words. most of that 17 only my sister can understand (ie: BaBa for by by and Nee No for more please). He also can not tell the difference between animals. he calls all animals "dog". If she say where is the kitty and shows him a pic of three animals he doesn't know. Even though they have a bunch of them on their block and he sees them all the time and is told what they are. They do have a dog and a bird. He will differentiate between the dog and the bird but can not say the word bird. Needless to say I am thinking speach delay + and don't know what she can do to start moving forward now that we are sure this will be a problem in the future.

Well if you didn't catch the question in my rambelings I was wondering what they or what you are doing with you DD to help her move forward better?

Sue -- You're thinking of Zapsmom/Shannon.

I am just going to move this thread over to miscellaneous as it is one of Shannon's forums and she may see it faster there, ok?

Sue,

I've moved this thread to the Speech Problems forum, as I know that Shannon checks in there fairly regularly. (Sorry Leigh...Misc. is just looking too daunting with all of the new posts...) I've also e-mailed the link to her.

Sue, Zoee is slightly behind but the ST who works with my son, thinks it is b/c of the other health problems that she has had and she should be able to caught be soon. She is able to answer me "Yes or No" to questions like "do you want milk? and can say 6 words at 20 months(that is where is she behind) But to answer your question, they have not started with speech for her, she has to be screened and then put on the waiting list which means a year and half wait for her. We are luckily b/c DS's St is willing to help with tips and a little one on one time when Hobbes is having a day of not being able to focus. If you can, I would suggest to her that she should get him screened for speech delay.
if you can , please keep me updated on your newphew.
