Hi I'm new to this board. And I'm glad I found this forum.. My question is my son was on enfamil a.r and was doing good with it but started getting so constipated i mean like passing hard stools (sorry TMI) that my doctor told me to switch to soy well that gave him diarrhea and made him to spit up more. so she told me to go to regular milk but now he is passing green stool is that normal.. I'm wondering if it's because the formula has iron in it??
also tried nutramigen he hated it!!!
Oh, boy--sorry to hear about all this formula mayhem! I don't know much about this, as my dd is b'fed; however, many of our moms have been through this and can relate their experiences to you. You can also read a bit about formula here: http://www.infantrefluxdisease.com/milk_based_formula.php

These links will take you to specific info/ingredients in the various formulas. If you know of any food intolerances/allergies in your family (or in your baby), this might help you pinpoint more specifically what the problem is.
How old is your baby? Is your baby also on any GERD meds?

Green is perfectly normal with Nutramigen.

If the Enfamil AR was working, you could maybe mix it 75% AR to 25% of regular Enfamil or another formula that he might have tolerated in the past. We did a 75/25 mix of Enfamil AR and Good Start for a good 6 months. That worked pretty well for us to control the constipation.

I was thinking of trying good start but someone told me it will only make him throw up more because the proteins are already broken down is that true??
