Well I just got off the phone with hubby a little while ago and guess what he told me:
He talked to his mom and she thinks that she and her brother had reflux too, back than of course they called it colic. They were spitting up a lot, screaming, not sleeping and, and, and ..well you get the point.
Then he continues to tell me that a lot of his cousins have food allergies too and can't eat everything.
That would've been nice to know when I started running into all those problems with Owen and I could've pointed it out quicker as allergies.
Oh well at least I know now and can prepare. Now I have to start asking questions if they outgrew their allergies and so on.

Isn't that frustrating. My DD is 5 and we are just now finding out that her cousin (DH sisters DD) had projectile vomit. They didn't think it was worth talking about because she had reflux not acid reflux. It just seem that people should know when there are things like this in a family, if you talk about out then there a an avenue that you can start with to make it better. This way you had to start from no info and take 8 months to get were you could have been month ago. Grrrr

It's good to have the info now, but it would've been MUCH more helpful several months ago!

It's funny--I'm learning similar things about people in dh's family who might've been refluxers...even though Bethany was having so much trouble and I was going nuts, nobody thought it was worth mentioning to me until AFTER she was diagnosed.

We are all in the same boat! My dh's mother tells me while they were visiting in Nov. *(before Jackson was diagnosed) that he had acid reflux when he was a baby and couldn't drink milk. Now, back then (1974) I don't know if dr. thought about babies having acid reflux, but she did tell me that she fed him formula, rice cereal, and APPLESAUCE in an infafeeder!, when he was like 8 weeks old! Oh well, he survived!
But, now dh still has acid reflux and can not tolerate milk. I asked him what it does to him, gassy, diarrhea, you name it (sorry too much info) but yes, we could have known these things BEFORE all of this s*&%!:banghead:
