DO YOU THINK I CAN GIVE SOME MYLANTA TO HELP WITH SLEEPING AND AT HOW MUCH 11.5 LBS Leigh 01-22-2006, 02:46 PM I do not know off the top of my head. Do you have a container there and how old is your wee one? Also, how long on the zantac? If less than 2 weeks I would still give it a chance. If your baby has had a growth spurt then I would see about getting the zantac dosage increased by the ped or GI. At 11.5 lbs I wonder again how old your baby is. Sleeping through the night is not a thing you really concentrate on until the baby is quite a bit older and even then reflux must be well controlled for it to happen. What are the symptoms? Mary 01-22-2006, 03:50 PM Ditto what Leigh said...It is so frustrating when you're going through it; however, the meds have to have a chance to work. One thing I found out was that usually I have to give meds a good week or two to start seeing results...then I'm able to talk with the doctor and we can usually determine whether it's working or not (and whether to add something else to help, like Mylanta). When Bethany was first diagnosed, I wanted to give her anything I could think of to make things better; however, her feeding specialist cautioned me to always talk things over w/ her first (before dosing myself with things like Mylanta, etc.) b/c if there are any funny symptoms, it's easier for her to figure out what's attributed to meds, GERD, etc. How are things going today? I think I can say with confidence that all of us on the boards have been there with the crying baby who won't sleep and doesn't appear to be improving...feel free to vent. We're happy to give you the support you need! {{{BIG HUGS}}} :smt056 |
