Maiya is doing terribly. We are off losec for 5 days, prior to the ph probe. She was terrible on losec, never thought it could be worse than waking up 3 times per hour,but this is hell. She thrashes for 15 min, cries, I breastfeed her, she sleeps 2-3 minutes and we start again!

I gave her malox- she slept 15 minutes. Here is my question:


Can you give malox when you are off meds before the ph probe? Will this affect the test?

I would ask my pediatrician but he is against malox/mylanta. I have to give her something- we cant go like this for 5 days plus the 24 hours of the test- this is barbaric!!

I'm pretty sure it's fine until 24hrs before but don't take my word for it.

ALso...........does anyone know what dose for a 16.6 pounder and how often I can give it??

I gave her 1 ml - how long before I can give it again.

I hate my country, actually my stupid province.I wish I still lived in the US.. I can not see a GI- all reflux babies in Montreal dont get to see a GI. My ped is wonderful, but he is not a GI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I asked my Peds secretary and she said that she supposed it was OK- I was lucky I didn't need it.
Is mylanta Maalox? If so, you can give about 3/4ml at a time maybe 4 times a day. I wouldn't give it to her at least 24 hrs before the probe.
Can you try like a tylenol etc for a couple of days this may make her sleep a bit nicer up to the test.

Our GI said we gan give 2.5 ml 3x/day of mylanta supreme & he weighs between 15 1/2-16lbs. We use only mylanta supreme because it has no aluminum in it.

Tylenol/Tempra etc does absolutely nothing for her pain, and it does nothing for her sleep either :(

2.5ml 3times per day?/ Sounds good to me
