HI as I posted a few days ago Connor is on a trial of Nexium. He has been on it for four days now and has been extremely fussy. He still takes his Zantac 4 times per day as a backup. Both other times we've tried PPI's he has reacted this way only this time I havn't noticed the gas that he got with the other meds. Has anyone else experienced this with PPI's and does it get better after they have been on it a while? I want to keep trying the Nexium because our GI said it is our last shot besides the Zantac but his contant crying is driving me nuts and I don't want to keep him on it if it is hurting his tummy!!!

I'm sorry I have never tried it but I would assume that it could cause problems especially since other PPIs have.
Good luck- I hope it is sorted out soon

Eric only tried a PPI twice.
I would have loved for him to be on prilosec, but he was so super miserable. Like he would have been better without meds at all. I don't know why, but it was VERY disappointing. His breathing was AWFUL and it was almost like his chest hurt, but who can be for sure. I wish he could talk!
and I was also thinking he would do it with any PPI.
I plan on trying another PPI here shortly (haven't talked to doc yet) and I'm really worried that I'll have the same outcome as you.
I still wonder why. I mean I realize there are lot's of side effects that could have made him feel bad, but which one?
Anyway the doc both times said to give it at least a week to see if he improved and ideally 2 weeks. We tried twice, but I couldn't make it to a week either time. They insisted that it would get better as his body adjusted, but I just wasn't strong enough to try.
Sorry I wasn't any help, but at least you know your baby isn't a freak and there's another one out there that may not be able to do a PPI.

I am no help, Jackson has been on Prevacid for 8 days now, and is better, not fussy. He hasn't experienced any side effects (keeping fingers and toes crossed! ) I hope that Connor gets better soon!:)

Noah started Prevacid 3 days ago & has been extremely fussy & gassy. He's on Zantac as well until the Prevacid kicks in. The MD said at least a week. I think he has a cold too & wants to eat constantly. He went from 4oz every 2hrs to 4oz. every hour last night & this morning. I wanted to give him a decongestant but I'm hesitant since he's on 2 meds already. I'm in the same boat & hope u find relief soon!
