Hi everyone,

When Allie was having a really bad day a few weeks ago, I paged her GI doc who told me we could give her Mylanta (I have it written down at home and I think the dose is 2 mls). She weighs almost 13 pounds.

However, the doc said not to give it too her that much b/c "mylanta is not good for babies."

Have any of your GI docs told you this?

It seems that her prevacid wears off in the afternoon and she doesn't eat good all afternoon, then once we give her that zantac at 6pm, she eats a lot, so I wondered if we should give her mylanta during the day and try that?

Thanks,
Christyn

I have not been told this. However, my ped suggested only 1ML for Zac since he was only a month old. I questioned her on upping the dose since he weighs alot more now (duh) she said it is not needed as it is only mean to coat the esohpogus/stomache.

I have been using Maalox for my daughter (2mL) since she was 2 months and 8+lbs. We were told not to give it more than 4 times a day... and its been a lifesaver!

Hope that helps!

I was always told (not by DRs though) that Mylanta Supreme is the only med like it that is Aluminum free so that's what we use. When Evan was about 11#, we were told no more than 5ml at a time and no more than 10ml a day.
