As I posted yesterday, Connor's GI wants him to start on Nexium and I am so stressed to try it after our prior experience with Prevacid and Prilosec! I'm just not ready to deal with the constant screaming and watching him hurt! From what everyone has posted Nexium is the same thing as Prilosec which caused him to projectile vomit and have horrible gas pains! If the Prilosec and Prevacid didn't work isn't it likely he will have the same reaction from the Nexium? I'm putting off giving it to him until Monday! My DH's birthday is Sunday and my Parents have actually offered to babysit!!! We've only been out alone one other time since he was born and it was only for an hour on our anniversary!

Hmm, I am sure you can put it off until monday, but on monday you should go ahead and try it. With reflux, it is trial and error, you gotta find something that works! Who knows... this may be it! have fun going out!

Just keep in mind, when switching PPI's it still takes 2 weeks to kick in...so if you stopped the old meds and started the new meds today it is like your ds isn't on anything!
I know how hard it is to wait and wonder if the meds will kick in, or if these meds just won't work

Hi everyone we started the Nexium today but I don't think he got any of it in him! This stuff is worse than the Prevacid to try to give. They come in capsules and she wants me to break them open and give him 1/4 of the capsule to start and to mix it with a tiny bit of formula or applejuice. Well I mixed it with the formula and it just stuck to the sides of the bottle. Anyone have any advice on how to administer it? He may have gotten a little bit of it the only thing I noticed is he was pretty gassy today but I don't know if it was caused by the med or not. Luckily she wants me to keep him on his Zantac also so hopefully the two together will help.

I've never used nexium.. is it beads or a powder in the capsule? Could you mix a bit with formula onto a spoon and give it that way? Or a syringe perhaps?
