I know there was a thread on here about this once before but I can't find it. Austin now weighs 12 lbs. and his zantac was just upped to .6ml twice a day. I am wondering do they have him on a low dose or high? Could they go higher?

I asked that question a few days ago and I think for 12 lbs the dosage is supposed to be from 2 ML a day to 4 ML a day. My DS is also 12 lbs and was put on exactly the same dose as yours (0.6 ML twice daily) and I was wondering if that is sufficient. I did see some improvement after 2 weeks but I don't think it's enough. When I questioned the ped about it they acted like this was the maximum dosage (which I know is not true) but did give me a referral to the GI.
Anyway, sorry for rambling but I hope this helped. I know other ladies had their babies on higher doses than that at 12 LBs.

Jackson was on Zantac and he was on 2ml a day, he weighed 13lb when they had him on that much. It worked for a while, the dr. changed him to Prevacid.

For 12# it's 1.8-3.6ml a day.

Thanks guys. I am going to give the .6 a few more days to kick in and then see if I can get the ped to up it.

 When Zac was on zantac at 3wks (approx. 11 lbs at that time) he started on .4ml...it was increased to .8ml shortly afterward. The most he was ever on before switching to prevacid at 12 weeks was 1ml.

That's the min dose for his weight. He can go to 6.

I read on one of the posts here to give the Zantac about 30 min before eating. I've been trying that for a few days and I think it has helped increase the effectiveness. Julia (20 lbs) is on 1.5ml, 3 times a day.

Also - I now get the Zantac syrup compounded instead of getting the Zantac liquid premade. A compounding pharmacy can flavor it something other than that nasty peppermint and by compounding, you avoid the alcohol. (Why give a baby alcohol?)
