Eli is OK, yesterday he puked and last night he had another episode (possibly dumping or some type of sugar attack) so I had to do a glucose test on him which was stressful and then I sent the results to the GI at Valleys and am waiting to hear back from him. This is the fourth time since we went to the GI last that. Can't remember when that was. Other than that, he is doing really great! He is talking alot more and developing in so many ways. I just wish this other stuff would disappear. I am not sure what else is going on with him.

Do you use a glucose moniter on him or something else ? Girl I swear Noah on bad days can have blood sugars of like 50 rigth after a meal. It for sure has something to do with the surgery.

We just poke him and do the glucose blood test.

That sucks, Noah hates it. I just grab his finger while he's playing, it's not worth the struggle to tell him ahead of time.

after the second try with Eli last night, we didn't warn him the third:-?

Sam is doing OK with the fundo. He has required an increase in prevacid recently--I think it is due to the fact that he has been sick so much these past few weeks. It seems to have helped.

Justin is doing okay for the moment. He continues to cycle and requiring tube feeds during his bad times. It seems that we can go for a month at the most of good days then will hit anywhere from two weeks to two months of constant pain and retching. He is really trying to not let this get him down but we are having such a hard time with fustration and anxiety levels with him. I really think that both the physical and psy issues are related and cause some big problems for him.

Erica just had to have her meds changed from prevacid to nexium. She is down to 72lbs, she has lost about 20lbs over this last year.We just had her yearly physical she is in the 95th percentile for height and now is below the 25th for height. The doc is not worried at this time but will be watching her weight gain or loss.

Brandon presently is having more stomach pain over the past few weeks. We had to increase his reglan and gastrocrome again hoping that this will help. The only good thing is that he has not complained of any pain in the chest so hoping that he is not refluxing to much.

All four of the kidds go to see the gi doc next month so will see what he thinks than.

I didn't realize that Eli is still having those episodes, Erin. Are they frequent?

Erin,
I find that so interesting about Eli, as I thought Noah was theonly kid I know with his sugars gropping since his very 1st surgery. We test Noah's sugars several times a week and more so when it's really apparent they are low. When Noah was on TPN they nurse was amazed at how how low his sugars always were from his blood draws as usually they are really high from the drip. Our Dr. has never said too much about it just to watch it. Hmmm,,,I wonder has your Dr. ever shed any light on it ?????
Melanie, girl you never cease to amaze me so calm and collected, I only have one fundo kiddo and he makes me a wreck !!!!
Amanda, poor little Sam :( it sucks when they are sick with the wrap they always seem to just fall apart. I hope he starts to get better soon.

The doc hasn't shed any light yet because he is waiting for us to get a few readings so we can see where to go from there. He wants to get to the bottom of it though, so that is good.

I sure will! He seems to be having problems with diarrhea lately too, Hmmm, any thoughts on that, Katy?

Noah is the diarrhea king. Noah's testing shows that he emptys really fast and then starts to back up at the duedeum (sp?) then he will hold & hold & hold and back up into the stomach and then all of the sudden his bowels will wake up & flush 'em right out hence the loose stools all of the time. Noah has always since birth had loose stools but they changed after his 1st Nissen. I do think that the rapid emptying & the low blood sugars have something to do with it, oh and the vagel nerve damage. I know alot of adults who have the exact same problems as Noah & eli and even have letters from them written to his Dr.s begging them to take Noah's problems post Nissen seriuosly as they are real.

Hmmmmmm... I wish there was more knowledge out there for us, we need someone to just sit down and figure this all out, make it there lifes work. I know of two little volunteers who would be happy to help! LOL

That is funny that you are all mentioning low blood sugars. The Last blood work on Hannah showed she had extremely low blood sugar and they had no answer.
We just got home from another 4 day stay. She was retching horribly and now she is bringing up stuff again.
They just adjusted her feeding rate for now.
She also has diarrhea all the time. We are doing immodium therapy with her.
They did a new gastric emptying scan on Friday. It was fine except she is now refluxing again. The test showed 12 x above the wrap.
She is doing okay right now. Hope the prevacid keeps working. We also give mylanta on the bad days.

need to run kiddos calling!

I have seen this post a number of times and it didn't dawn on me until now that Chelsea is a fundo kid! She is okay.....it depend on your perspectve! She is not my ideal okay because I never intended for her to be refluxing post fundo times two--at least enough that she needs all these meds! She takes more now than she did before. But there is a level of control that exists now that did not exist pre fundo, at least with regards to her respiratory tract and sinuses.

I want to know more about this sugar thing. Chelsea has loose stools too all the time. She had dumping for awhile after the fundo and it diminished probably 3-4 months after it, but it still lingers. She doesn't eat much and will get very tired and emotional--I will notice it is improved when she eats. Every child I know post fundo has blood sugar problems--makes me think I should pay attention more to Chelsea's. What specifically do you gals see in Eli and Noah?

Katy--I like the description of the emptying process---it sounds just like Chelsea but probably more severe than her. I didn't realize things could get backed up then dump. That is so her and I can't seem to figure out what sets it off. Any thoughts?

What a cutie Pie! What I notice with Eli is he gets a tummy ache, then he gets really out of it, then has explosive diarrhea. This is at its worst. mainly he gets cranky and emotional just like you described but then he has serious episodes where his eyes roll back in his had and he goes limp. We are now watching it closely.

That sounds scary. I am going to pay more attention--I think for her it has always been tired and cranky. I haven't paid that much attention to it for awhile since the dumping for the most part subsided. I do notice that sometimes her poop still resembles a dumping episode but it will be long after she ate (too long for late dumping) so I amo not sure. Thanks for bringing it to my attention.
