I have some questions about using mylanta. My ped won't change ethan's meds till we go see the GI and the first available appt with the GI isn't till monday. I knwo that isn't too far away but with a screaming baby that feels like forever soo...I was going to give ethan some mylanta in the evenings when he starts getting particularly worse and I was curious if anyone on here knows how much i should give him...this probably sounds horrible that i would do this with out strick instructions from a doctor but we need some relief and waiting till monday just wont' due. He takes 1/2 a 15mg soultab of prevacid in the morning and he is about 13lbs they had us giving him 1ml of zantac at night but he is having a reaction to the zantac and it's making it worse so we are discontinueing the zantac. if any one could let me know a basic guide line for the mylanta i would really really appricate it.

thanks,
meg

My GI says 1/2 teaspoon for my 17 lb child. We haven't tried it yet, though. She's being scoped on Saturday and we're not supposed to change anything between now and then.

aww well good luck with the scope :) someone else told me 1ml so i'm gonna wait and see if a few more people say and hopefully i'll find something that sounds right and he can get some relief you can smell the stomace acids on his breath when he burps and he is just miserable :( which of course leaves me exhausted and stressed out but hopefully we'll be better soon.

I give Jackson 1/4 of a tsp. It works, it seems like as soon as it goes down he calms down. I guess it cools his throat. Hope that it works for you! Don't you wish that the dr. could spend one whole evening with our screaming babies?!:smt088

lmao the dr. couldn't handle this i know that the dr's at childrens hospital told me i was a saint because they saw him ( we were in childrens for almost 3 weeks) i think the only way us mothers get through it is because we unconditionally love our kids

I dunno what 1/2 tsp equals to in MLs but at 3wks of age and about 11lbs, I was told he could have 1ml. The dosage has always stayed the same for him as the ped told me that it is not meant to fill up the tummy, just enough to coat the esophogus.

I was told 2-3ml (which is about a 1/2tsp) and it has stayed that way since Kaitlyn was 9lbs... she's 16lbs now.

Just so you know 5mL - 1tsp

When Connor was your little guys age our ped told us 1.5ml every 4 hours no more than 4 times per day.
