We had Sam finger paint a couple of weeks ago. At first he screamed and screamed, but when I started to smear it on his belly and legs and face he was totally in to it! He got it all over himself. I stripped him down and put paints on paper plates. I then put him in the center of an old blanket and put the paints around him and let him go for it! I was so surprised that he didn't want to touch the paint, but his finally got the hang of it. I kept putting paper out for him to play with and he would crumple it and play with it -the whole time with paint on his hands. Everyone thought that this was the best paper there was! It was so much fun to watch. He was so mad when I took him out of the mess. I will have to post a picture of him after the painting! It is awesome!

Where is that picture? I think that is so great! Often we shy away from things that messy and some kids really do need to get messy for proper sensory development. Curran and Walker would still freak at that, although they are getting better with it and getting their hands messy. Last Halloween Curran surprised me by putting his hands in a tub of jello and going for the toys in it, but he needed his hands dried every time he put his hands in. Weird.
Thanks for sharing !

It was so much fun, but at first he hated the feel of the paint on his hands so I had to start him up with the paint. Once he realized it was okay he had fun! Dad thought I was nuts, but it was so much fun!! I can hardly wait for another project to come along. Our PT told me that when he gets older to put whipped cream and chocolate syrup on the table and let him drive his cars (washed before use) on the roads I made with the chocolate and whipped cream!! Can't wait for Sam to get a bit bigger to try this one!!!
