i'm a new mom with a baby with reflux. i'd like to keep my diet to the foods that don't exacerbate the problem, but there seems to be so much i shouldn't eat. does anyone have, or know of a list of foods i can eat???

Hello, I don't know of a list but I thought I would move this thread over to our section called "Questions, Questions, Questions" so more people will see it and hopefully you will get some great advice! Welcome!!
I eliminated milk, and found great soy ice cream and milk . I introduced them slowly, as many babes are sensitive, and use them in moderation.
I eliminated peanut butter and found a love for almond butter.
Wheat, I thought would be hard, but it has been easy. I bought spelt bread (tasty) and replaced cereal with oats (which was easy since i could not have milk with cereal anyways).. I just really miss yogurt.
I avoid all spicy foods (my husband is indian so it is difficult) but it makes miaya too gassy.
Can you talk to a dietician??? Or a naturopath?? Or just go to your local health food store and they will help you
good luck

I know it is so difficult. I have eliminated all dairy from my diet. No more cookies or dessert- poor me! It's hard to eat out but I just ask them not to add any butter products. I eat alot of eggs and oatmeal. The bread is the hardest to avoid for me. But I think it is worth it. It is so hard with the breast milk because you are already trying to figure out why they are so miserable and you also have to think of everything you ate that day to see if that made it worse. I also stay away from caffeine and spicy foods.

Have you checked out Kellymom.com? It's a great BFing tool...
kellymom.com :: Can a nursing mother eat this food? (http://www.kellymom.com/nutrition/mom/mom-foods.html)
Sara beat me to Kelllymom...I'm a nursing mommy, too and I've cut out all dairy, incl. eggs and have toyed with cutting out wheat/gluten (but I don't have the willpower yet).
My dd is almost 14 months old and it's so hard to figure out what sets her off--between my diet and hers. :( I would try the Kellymom site and also try to talk to a nutritionist (or your pediatrician, if s/he's well-versed in this stuff) if you can. Also, if you have a La Leche League chapter near you, they often have great resources on this topic.
Good luck!

I would start w/ dairy and soy as those are the biggest 2. If things go well after that, you can trial soy and see what happens. Some moms just need to eliminate dairy, some more. Evan is very allergic and intolerant and I finally weaned him at 12 mos b/c I couldn't handle it anymore. I have some great dairy/soy free lists if you want them.
