I had previously posted a link to a website (also found on PAGER site) about a study being done on salvia (a mouth wash rinse).

If you have not already done so, please give a call and get your information packet and help out with this study. It is so important.

I had asked Roni to put a big note on the home page of the site....but she has been very busy. I am sure she will as soon as she gets a chance to update.

CALL: MARY 888-887-7729
She wants to hear from you!!!!!

I am actually filling out the last of my questionnaire and it will be sent this week. Just had to ask some family members some questions first.:-D

Man, I wish they gave more space to write, though. Imagine me having trouble finding space to write!

Thanks for bringing this up again, Jean. I have read their blurb on "Mapping of a Gene for Severe Pediatric Gastroesophageal Reflux" and the chromosome link and it is fascinating stuff. This sounds like it is a great study and well worthwhile to participate in.

Just called--Mary was really very nice and quite helpful. 2 of my relatives are also going to do the study, as they have related issues. (IBS, adult GER)
Thanks again for the reminder!

I've made this into a sticky while you're waiting for a chance to have the link put on the main site.

I rec'd my questionnaire but was unsure how to complete. I did not receive the mouth wash kit yet though? I was waiting for Roni to receive her questionnaire and we could go over it together.

Thanks Janette for the sticky!

I am just bumping this thread back up again for our newbies as I have been told they are still growing their "superfamily" for this study. Take a peek and participate!

I sent in our samples and consent forms last week (DH and I had to do a mouthwash sample) and Em's were cheek swabs with brushes.

I am bumping this thread again as they are still looking for people for their superfamily according to my contact at the facility. So, let's get some more people on this!:hello2: I have a box full of swabs and stuff for a bunch of my family members, not just my household. They are looking for as many family members as possible who do have the reflux link.

They are working very hard on this and need US to help them. Imagine if they could find the gene for GERD and what it would mean!

Ok, I was just thinking of this and was afraid that it was too late.
Thanks for bumping Leigh.
I'm on it today! :blob4:

I just called. Mary is very nice and the whole process sounds very easy. She said they would love to have people who have more then one reflux suffer to participate. If that applies to any of you.

Absolutely great if you have more than one refluxer and also if you have a confirmed diagnosis of this in the adults of the family as well. It makes them foam at the mouth when they see a family tree they can produce which has reflux throughout.

It IS easy and Mary is GREAT! They are working so hard on this and remember that it will take YEARS to achieve their goal unless they luck out.

Essentially, we are being proactive for our grandchildren here.

I just saw this & I thought I'd see if it was still going. It looks like it is according to the site & Mary's voicemail. We think Lilly's GERD is inherited & suspect Sidney to have it also, so we are very excited to participate.

Awesome that this thread is still around...weird when I look at the date of the other posts! Time goes so fast. It seems that I sent her a lot of brochures just before I sold my house last Feb.

Let us know how you make out if you get in touch with them.
