Hey everyone. I hope you all had a great holiday. We have been fighting the dreaded flu so Emma and myself are the patients as of thos morning. She is fighting it better than I am. Well we saw the surgeon and she was very nice. She called Dr. Blecker to question him of the placement of the probe. She said she has never seen an adult more or less a child relux for that long of a period. She also sated that she registered as having other episodes. She said Emma would be a great canidate for the Fundo. We talked alot and I asked her all the questions and she said she could not comment on a few becasue she does not know the child's history and that everyone has a diffrent prospective on things. But we talked about the complications, diet, everything. So we are in no rush at this time to do it. She wants another test done. A delated eating test. She will eat a meal and then a camera will see how long it takes her stomach to empty. So we will be doing that and talking to Dr. Bleacker and together we will see what will happen. I think she will have the surgery if things don't get better, she wants to make sure we know everything about it. Thanks so muchto everyone for all the help. I am still scared and hoping for the best. When my mom is here she will eat and she is up to 25 lbs. But when she leaves boom no eating and weight loss. So we will see. I tried to look up the procedure but I could not find it where I looked up the PH Probe. If anyone has had this and can let me know anything about it that would be great.
Thanks and I hope we all have a great and healthy New Year.

Are they looking at stomach emptying?? Sam had that scan prior to his fundo. They put some formula with dye in it thru his NG (or they can drink it) and he was under the scan for about 1-2 hours (I can't remember how long, but it was awhile) Luckily he just slept. I think this will be hard for a 2 year old to be strapped down for a scan----if you are talking about the same test. Maybe someone with an older child has some more info.

Thanks for the update :-D I will ask Roni to see if she can find a link she approves of about the fundo procedure, I know there are some out there if you just type it in your search engine under "fundoplication procedure".

I am glad to hear that they are in no rush to do the surgery. I think the test that you are having done next is the gastric emptying study which will show if the stomach empties correctly. If the test comes back that their is a delay in emptying talk to the surgeon about it because the surgery could make this problem worse. It could actually create a whole new set of problems that could be worse than the the reflux itself. I do wish you luck and hope that test comes back normal.

Like Melanie, I'm glad to hear that there's no rush to do the fundo. Since Emma always eats so well for your mom and gains weight when she's there, is there any chance of having her move in to help?

(Since Emma always eats so well for your mom and gains weight when she's there, is there any chance of having her move in to help?) I wish or some days I don't ha ha We are trying to get my mom and dd to move here and they said whithin the next few years they will. I am not sure what test they are going to do but I hope it is not the one where she has to lay there for two hours. You are right there is no way in heaven she will do that or anyone would. We are hoping for the best. Whatever she needs to get better. I find it wierd she will eat when my mom is around but when she leaves it is starvation strike. I know it happens everytime. But there is really nothing I can do for that end. i will let you know when the test is going to be. If there is a site please let me know. I tried to look up a few and I don't think it was I was looking for. thanks everyone. i hpe everyone has a great week.
