For a while now, Joshua seems to gulp his bottles. I often stop him and have him take a break. I can hear the milk going down his system and then...plunk, it hits his belly. Is this a reflux thing?
His bottles are thickened with rice cereal so we use the Y cut Dr Brown's nipples. I don't think it is the nipples, b/c he doesn't gulp all the time.
Just curious...

I think that it's just a super hungry sort of thing. It happens here with my 6 yo. and my 3 yo. too.

Emma is a guzzler. She wants the whole "bottle" thing over and done with ASAP.
Maya also drains her bottles really quickly ( thats when she's not refulsing them altogether) and when she is finished there is no getting her to go back for seconds. I too think she likes to get the feed over with as soon as she can.

Cady also chugged her thickened bottles really, really fast. We used the y-cuts, too. Then again, she can still polish off a 6-oz. bottle in three minutes flat. This is a big change from the challenging ages of 2-6 mos., where it would take 40 mins. to get in 3-4 ozs. I'll take the chugging over the pokey feeding of days past.

Maggie and Becky,
I should have clarified that Evan only started to drink like that sometime after his second birthday. Before that we varied from total refusal, to 2 oz. over an endless amount of time. And then there was all of the puking...
