Cady's about 24-25 lbs. and 1-year-old. Any idea how much Mylanta/Maalox to give? I want to avoid upping her Prevacid for flare ups, but maybe if I'm able to give an antacid whenever she has a rotten time, she'll feel a little better. Which one is better?

Catherine's GI just a few days ago said to give her 1/2 teaspoon of Mylanta. She's 17 lbs. That doesn't help you a whole lot but it gives you an idea of amount. Call Cady's dr and ask.

Kaitlyn's been getting the same amount 2-3mL since she was 9lbs (she's about 16 now)... they said the Maalox doesnt need to be upped usually... You could give that a try and if it doesnt help within 5 mins or so, you know she might need a little more. She might not need that much to neutralize the esophagus area.

As far as better, I think they are about the same thing. I buy Maalox because A) I get coupons for it and B) the bottle is prettier! hahahahahaha

Good luck! Definitely check with the Dr!

We like the Mylanta Supreme Cherry flavor - mmm. At 24/25 lbs, I think the dose would be between 1/2 - 1 tsp. Hope it helps!

I give Frankie 1/2 teaspoon every 6 hours as needed. He is 14 pounds. The only thing is the Mylanta can cause loose stool. When I see his stools are becoming loose, I simply cut back on one dosage or give a little extra rice in the bottle. This tends to fix the problem. Good Luck!
