Has anyone tried spaghetti sauce with their babies? Nothing fancy, I'm talking plain Ragu here. Trey was having some last night so I gave maybe half a teaspoon to Catherine. She was up all night screaming her fool head off! Seriously ... up several times before midnight, up from 1:00am-2:30am and then every so often until I finally got her up, crying, at 5:00am. I'm so tired my eyes burn.

I'm really, really tempted to away with all solids and go to Neocate for a couple of weeks to clean her out and then start all over again. I emailed my insurance to see if they'll cover Neocate (the pharmacist at work said probably not). That would make the clean-out much less painful on the pocketbook.

The spaghetti sauce probably did it. Tomatoes are VERY acidic. My sister has a bladder disease (IC) AND duonditis (sp?), and tomatoes are the ONE thing that she CANNOT cheat with. She has these little packets of powder that are supposed to neutralize the acid in things like spaghetti sauce, but her doctors tell her not to even try anything with tomato in it.

Interstitial Cystitis... they thought I had that too!! Yes Tomatos are the worst! I wouldn't dream of giving it to Kaitlyn right now, even *I* have trouble with spaghetti and pizza sauce!

So sorry she had another rough night! Poor her and you! I hope she's better tonight!

Yup...Spaghetti sauce can be pretty nasty for kids with reflux. Now that Evan's older, he can sometimes get away with it, but only if it's a good reflux day and if it's not past 4 p.m.

Oh...and orange juice is pretty much a definite no-no for Evan. It bounces right back up quicker than it went down, if you KWIM.

Yeah ... but such a small amount? I know she didn't have more than half a teaspoon, more like a quarter.

1/4 or 1/2 a tsp. doesn't sound like much to us, but it's more to a little tummy. ;)

Be glad you don't have it, Michele. Right when she was diagnosed (maybe 7 years ago?), she had to have a cathetar (sp?) weekly and they shot medicine into her bladder. She also takes some nasty prescriptions and has to drink more water than you could even imagine. I haven't seen her without a bottle of water in years. Its the only way to keep her bladder from "hurting." And, because she has to drink so much water, she constantly has to pee. She's in her third year of med school right now, and I don't see how she manages. (Sorry, Lesley, way off topic.)

Anyways, I know that tomato products are a huge no-no for her due to the acidity, so I would think that even a small amount could irritate Catherine's little tummy.

I personally feel refluxy when I have spagetti sauce, so I can imagine it would do it for the kids. We will have to look at what casues Iain pain in the future, but fro now we are just happy to see him eat anything.

It does not matter how little or how much she had, Lesley, as even that itty bitty bit could have been enough for her. If I eat a piece of pizza that has had a green pepper on it I feel wretched afterwards. Love green peppers, but even a residue is enought to cause me pain.

Spaghetti sauce, this sends chills down me, I found out the bad way that a little is VERY bad for Parker. And like Janettes kids Orange Juice even a sip- scream, scream, scream. Parker now has spaghetti and I just put the mince- no sauce and some cheese- he eats it-sometimes. YUMMY, poor kids.
