Joshua is started to enjoy sitting up and I think he will be sitting up on his own in no time. He's a very active, determined little guy!
So, once he is sitting up, do I still elevate his crib? Or will that make him topple to the end?
I know this sounds silly...just first time Mom worries!

We stopped elevating Catherine's crib when she could roll because she always ended up at the bottom of her bed no matter how we braced her in place.

We used rolled towels to keep Iain in place for awhile, but once he was able to roll around we were not able to do anything and found that the crib elevation had lost its effect. THey do have the beds and wedges as advirtisers here. Pricey, though. A child my former OT looked after had great success with the bed and she swears by it.

Evan is 3 1/2 yo., and we still elevate the head of his bed.

Once Noah started sitting and rolling and scooting, we flattened out the crib in hopes that he didn't need it anymore and because of the same worries you are having. WE SAW A HUGE DIFFERENCE. He couldn't sleep. Well, he still doesn't sleep, but I KNEW this was reflux-related. He woke up smelling like puke, and he coughed nonstop. So, we re-elevated, and it calmed those particular symptoms. I made a very elaborate nest that seems to do the trick. He has sat up in his crib before and fell back and hit his head--but he survived! I think that would happen either way when the first figure out how to sit up by themselves. Noah's still quite clumsy about it.:-D

Eli is 3 1/2 and keeping him elevated is still something he needs while sleeping.
