Noah has had an increase in his reflux symptoms the last few days. He has major wet burps, tenses up during eating, and he threw up today (which he hardly ever does). He is still on .5 ml of pepcid twice a day. The doc wont increase it anymore. Here's what I'm wondering... I have started to add more calories to his solids by putting in butter. I used a half tsp per 2 oz of solids. Yesterday was the first day I did this. I also let him lick cheese whiz (got about 1/2 tbls). And I have been giving him a little more formula per day instead of breast milk. Ususally he gets about 7 oz of formula (Isomil) and the rest breast milk. But the past couple of days I've had to give him 10 or so oz. Do you think any of these factors could be causing the increase in reflux? I dont think he has any food allergies, but then again, how would I know for sure if he does?

It could be a number of things, Lisa...It could be the reflux roller coaster, or the added fat content, or the increase in calories, or an intolerance to the dairy. Just a few thoughts...

Maggie's reflux got much worse when we started solids. She truly went down hill from there... stopped eating, growing, started loosing weight...
