We would have been there almost an hour early but DH didn't listen to my directions and passed our off ramp. God must have planned it that way. No traffic in site either way, didn't even have to wait to go in to see the Dr. The Dr. was very professional and spent almost 2 hours with us. He will be contacting Noah's GI to get all of his records (6 years worth) His file at the GI office seriously is freakin' huge !!!! He's on his 5th file binder. The Dr. insists he sees all of them because he thinks something might have been missed with the loose stools and the not sleeping at night. He says he will call us next week with an update and bring us back in about 3 weeks to meet osme other Dr's and schedule some testing.

A great sign is when he is willing to read over everything to come to his own conclusions. I hope that he is the "one" to figure things out for you and Noah. May this be the break that you need in his treatment.

Keep us posted. Looking forward to hearing some good things!

Katy,
I am so happy to hear that the appointment went well. I will keep Noah in my prayers. I do hope that these docs here are able to give you some answers and find solutions to all of Noahs problems.

Okay, so we heard back from the Dr. at UCLA and he feels that our biggest problem is the reflux and that he feels the wrap is most likley un-done or slipped. That would be the reason why Noah's ears are still draining,(they've been draining since August in case I never mentioned it) Noah has also been on antibiotics for over 5 months straight with no relief of the drainage. So, the plan now is to have Noah scoped again, place the bravo probe and start i.v. antibiotics for a duration of 10-12 weeks depending on what the infectous disease Dr.s feels is best. Then if all shows what he expects we will admit Noah 1st for extensive testing pet scan ??? MRI's , sleep studies over 2 days, brain function testing, and millions more. Then we will decide from there what the best treatment option is. I think Noah will reflux for the rest of his life. There is nothing anyone can do, and on top of all of this Noah has started to say his chest is hurting again which could mean that the adhesions are already growing back. During his last surgery the adhesions were so bad that htey had pulled his spleen and liver up into the chest wall and the spleen had adhered itself to his stomach wall. *UGG !!! This all blows !!!

Oh my, Katy...(((HUGS)))...The poor little guy! Evan has been through tonnes of testing too, but not as many as Noah. What will the doctors do if the wrap can come undone or has slipped? I hope that the testing will give you the answers you need to help Noah. Please keep us updated.

Yep, it pretty much blows big chunks, Katy. When are they going to start all this? I am sorry I can not remember when the bravo ph probe is scheduled.

Are they going to have to wait until the course of antibiotics are over before they do any surgery? Poor Noah! I really hope that he does not have adhesions again. Those sound like they were horrific. Never having had them I can only go by what I know from my Mother and others who had them and it is not good...

Oh, I came across some site for pet scan earlier today while searching around... I will have to look for it again....

Are you heading home again? Or are you still there?

Katy,
I have been thinking of you and Noah alot recently. I am so sorry that he is still dealing with all of this. I was really hoping that this last surgery would have helped him. I do wish you luck with all the testing and hope that they are able to give you some real answers. Noah will continue to be in my prayers and thoughts. I do have to agree with you that this situation sucks.

When ever the insurance companies get thier stuff together were just kinda hanging out with one grumpy little boy until we get the authorization. Noah was put on C.C.S. even though we carry insurance on him, he was put on it without us ever filling out an application *%@ Needless to say I am little upset as now we have to do everything through them when it comes to his GI Care & anything that stems from it. It is supposed to be a benifit for Noah from the state of California, they are supposed to pay for all of his care but they put him on without even telling us a week before we went to UCLA (that authorization took us months to get from our private insurance) Well, once he was put on to C.C.S. our insurance was notified that California Childrens Services was now covering all of his GI care so they were more than happy to dump all of his pending authorizations over to them UG !!!! Who ever said the system could actually be helpful lied, they screwed everything we had in line up !!1 Okay, I'm done now.

OMGosh, Katy! What a bummer!

They put Eli on CCS too without our knowledge but we haven't had any problems and they pay for everything. We had healthy families though through blue shield so it was a smooth transition, I guess. They have paid everything for the surgery and all.

Sounds like a real nightmare, Katy. I just love how things seem to run so smoothly with insurance companies.
