Sam's Mom

Just thought I would share a funny experience. Sam had an appt with his geneticist this week. she only comes to our area once a month, so I did not want to have to reschedule and take him into the city.
while driving the 10 min. to get to the office, Sam was screaming--the poop scream. So, when we parked, I climbed into the back of the van to do a diaper change (one reason a mini van is so practical--eventhough I swore I would never drive one)

Well, as I unzipped his snow suit, I was greeted by that smell--the smell that tells you the poop is not just in the diaper! Luckily it was contained in his sleeper. so I started the clean up. the only problem was I did not have an extra change of clothing--did not even bring my diaper bag because we were not going to be gone long. In the process of changing him I got poop on his clean diaper--the only one I had! So, I grabbed one of his brother's--size 6 (Sam wears a 3) I bundled him in his snow suit and a blanket and we went to the appt! I can't believe I took my son out naked!!!!!! Luckily we were the only ones in the waiting area. the staff got a kick out of my story--and I did not need to undress him for his weight!!!!!

Oh Amanda, it never fails the one time when you think you don't need to bring the diaperbag that's when something like this happens. Good that he didn't get his snowsuit.

LOL Amanda! The last time we went to see one of Evan's specialists at the children's hospital (1 1/4 hours away), I forgot the diaper bag and naturally there was a big poop! Luckily I've learned to keep an extra pull-up (or 3) on the back seat of the van...

Man! It never fails, huh? We actually had that happen the week before last while we were at the store. I've learned the hard way to keep two extra outfits, four diapers, a small box of wipes in the car, just for this reason.

I think we've all been there! Fortunately, it's a funny story once the heat of the moment has passed.

That is so funny! Thanks for sharing! :-D

It never failed that when I'd forgotten to bring along the diaper bag for quick errands, Emma would have an all-over-herself poop explosion.

Hence the reason why we have a box of wipes and a stash of diapers in the backseat of our vehicles, now.

But, boy those wipes are COLD after sitting out in 30 degree weather. Poor Emma! Brrrrrrrrrrrr. :snowman:

I'm laughing because I've been there--and it's only funny after it passes!

Last year, about this time, my sister had flown in to visit. Bethany was a tiny little thing and I was just starting to get comfortable going out w/her. We decided to make a quick run to Target, as we needed a few things and I decided to pare down the contents of the diaper bag...lo and behold, B had a complete blowout in Target, in the middle of winter, and I had no change of clothing. I came out of the bathroom with my tiny, squriming, very naked baby and proceeded to walk straight to the children's clothing section to buy an outfit so we could get her home. My sister laughed so hard she had to walk away from us b/c she was causing such a commotion! The story only gets funnier with time!

You should have just let them think that is the way you dress him everyday... It must have made the weigh in very efficient indeed.:-D

I keep extra diapers and pullups in the car along with outfits, too. We had a big blowout with Curran and I used one of the pullups this fall, but when Iain had one right afterwards I found that I had only extra small diapers for him and they would NOT go around him! It made me feel great to know that he had outgrown them, but stupid because I had not checked. The pullups fell down right away and we had yet another blowout on the way home. I stocked up that night. You reminded me to check again on the stash... Thanks for the public service message!:-D

Thanks for sharing your story Mary- it was quite funny. I just remember mum telling us about my brother who had a hard poop that rolled out of his pants and onto the floor at the department store- of course those were the days of cloth nappies!! Hahahahaha!! I could just imagine my mum reaching down to pick it up............ teehee!

We have spare nappies and clothes in our vehicles too...... you can never be too prepared!!!
