Lauren is on the antibiotic Ceftin and the dr. says that it will probably cause a diaper rash. Well, let's add that to the list of symptoms.

Has anyone's child been on this and what is your experience? I don't know why the ped just wouldn't prescribe amoxicillin... it has worked very well in the past.

My ds2 was put on Ceftin before but I don't think he had any problems with it.

Catherine has been on Ceftin but I can't say if it caused a diaper rash because she has one most of the time anyway. If she's been on amoxicillin before, the dr is probably trying to use something else. Antibiotics can lose their effectiveness if used repeatedly.

My dog has been on ceftin.... : ) I bet he is just trying to switch meds around so there is no tolerance built up.

the ped has to rotate meds for your cild, also different bugs respond to different strains of meds, and the docs have to rotate antibiotics within the groups of kids they see, because the human race is becoming more and more resistant to antibiotics.
