Since Cady got sick after the reaction to the Augmentin, we've seen some weird poops. The color is dark red, not brown in any way, but red. Very thick and soft, but also a little (not a lot, just a little) mucousy. They stink, really bad, nothing like her normal poop. She goes about 3 times a day, since we got rid of the diarrhea. I haven't heard anything about her cdif test...I don't know how long those tests take. Besides cdif (which I'm not convinced it is), what else can make red, smelly, mucousy poops? Am I reading too much into this?

I also don't think I can attribute it to food, since she doesn't eat anything of that color. What do you think?

Hey. I just picked up that antibiotic for Noah and in the side effects area it says that the stools can become red in color and mucusy for up to 6 weeks after stopping the meds. I think because it strips the intestines of infection.

Thanks guys! That makes sense that it happened after the Augmentin then. Hmmm...maybe it'll go away sooner because she wasn't on a full course of Augmentin. The course was cut short due to her bad reaction. So, no big deal. I can deal with it.
