Does anyone know if veggies aggrivate gerd? Josiah seemed to do okay with carrots and squash, but he had carrots last night, and he really screamed and did not sleep at all last night...this lead to not having a good day (still seemed to be in pain and lots of spitting up) and he is not sleeping good tonight either. Could this be the veggies or just a reflux flair up caused by something else? He likes baby food, but I don't want him to get into the habit of just eating the "sweeter" foods such as the fruits and cereal.

After two nights of no sleep, I am looking for some answers! Hey, aren't we all though? Hubby suggested calling the ped. tomorrow if Josiah doesn't sleep tonight. He seemed to be doing so much better this past week until yesterday....:(

there are some veggies that cause issues for GERDlings. Such as Broc. and Coliflower (If ound with my DD spinish was a probem). And that is due to the gassy nature of the veggi. Not that they are acidic like tomatos. However, if your little one has never had carrots before and this is the first time. You may want to not give them again for three weeks. If there is an allergie to carrots it could exsaserbate GERD. But I agree with your DH if he doesn't seem to be getting better a call to the ped might be a good idea. I have found with my DD, most of the time her GERD acts up right before she gets sick. Do you think he is coming down with something or do you think it is associated with the carrots? I wish you sleep!

God bless

I was going to say what Sue said, when reading, yes some veggies can cause problems.

Josiah has had carrots many times before...although the time before last he did spit them up bad. I thought that was caused by my not thickening them w/cereal. Last night I did thicken them, and got the screaming/non-sleeping episode.
Josiah has NEVER been a good sleeper, but he had gotten somewhat better. Last week he would sleep in his crib for 3 hrs., nurse/sleep in bed w/us for about 4 hrs.,and then get up, play w/Daddy, then into the swing for an hour...can't beleive now that I complained then! LOL
Yeah, guess I'll call his ped. tomorrow. The last time he was in there she saw first hand one of his screaming/refluxing episodes...she made the comment that he scared her. LOL ! I don't think that she has ever had a patient as difficult....she may finally be ready to send us to a specialist.
I don't think he is getting sick, but I could be wrong. ????

My daughter loved carrots but they really aggravated her reflux.
