My lizzy finally went to the gi today they switched her to prilosec 5 ml twice a day......i was wondering if that were correct........she is 14.12 lbs........they also gave her lactulose for constipation anyone have experience with this???.........if so let me know anything from what i understand the side effects can be nasty but she may not have any at all???????im new at this stuff.......please help someone!!!!!!!!thanks

it is not the ml that is important , but the milligrams. Maiya takes 3ml but its concentration is 2 mg per ml, for a total of 6 mg (which is a very low dose of losec).. Look at my thread asking about losec versus prevacid- good info on losec dosage from moms.

Hi there and welcome to the boards! Prilosec worked wonders for us. We are now on the capsules as Matthew is doing well wiht solids and it has recently been doubled to 20mgs a day (he weighs 19lb7oz at almost a year old). When we were on the liquid suspension, I can't actually remember how many mls we were on, but I do know it was 4mcg/ ml. And that is what counts- the strength of it.
Are you having it made up as a liquid suspension?? If so, you really need to have it done every 2 weeks to make sure that it is still effective. Also, we have not had constipation issues with Matthew for some time. We have had no other side effects from this drug and my doctor says it is totally safe to use with infants. COnstipation can be an issue with many GErdlings, but it does depend. I would wait to see if she has any issues in this area..... you can always post for advice about this (if it becomes an issue) on the constipation board- we are well-versed in poop issues over there!!! Teehee :-)
