Could Samantha be having a reaction to apples? I gave her a little apple juice, but she only took a sip if anything a couple days ago. Yesterday, I tried giving her stage 1 apples. But since a couple days ago, she has a little ezcema rash around her mouth, and it's not going away.

Are there certain fruits that causes more allergies? I don't know what to do...should I keep her veggie/fruit free for a few days and just stick with oatmeal? Or can I move on to something else?

Also, my mom made some homeade rice cereal porridge type thing, pureed with carrots and potato. Can I give that to Samantha if it has the potatoes? She's almost 6 months.

My ped has always urged that if the suspected reaction is not severe, then the food should be tried several times (few days in between) to determine if it truly is an allergy. You don't want her to miss out on apples if it was just a coincidence, but if it happens again, I'd call the ped and stop them until you talk to him/her.

I would not give her the porridge unless she has had all the ingredients SEPERATELY. Also, make sure there is no butter or seasonings in it. At six months, we were JUST starting fruits and veggies, so it seems a little early for something like that.

Hi Melissa... I only started giving the boys potato at around 9 months. I didn't like the idea of them having anything too starchy. As for the rash.. are you sure it's realted to the food you gave her? As opposed to it being cuased by constant drool?? Just thinking out alound here....
