I bought some apple/cherry juice today. Is cherry okay for Noah at his age?

Well...I would assume it's ok for his age because they make baby food w/cherries also. I've seen cherry mixed with something but I dont' remember what other fruit it was. It was beechnut brand.

I'm sure cherry is okay at almost 8 months...but do you really want to introduce a new juice when he is having all these problems already? I would wait until he started handling some more solids before pushing the new juice, babies arnt supposed to have more than 4 oz of watered down juice a day anyway and if you are already using the banana to flavor his bottles then he prob gets close to that now.

Amy
4oz. of watered down juice a day? I give Zac 3oz. of water mixed w/1oz. of juice 3times a day...is that too much?

Sara,

I think "watered down" generally means 50/50 so 2oz juice and 2oz water. Zac is getting 3oz of juice a day, it sounds like.

Catherine only gets juice once in a blue moon, and I mix it 1oz juice to 3oz water. Juice is empty calories that she can't afford to fill up on.

I'm not planning on give him any juice. I'm just trying to find a different flavor for his bottles so that if and when he decides that banana bottles are no fun anymore, I'm equipped with something else. I like to be armed and ready for this baby to throw something new my way. I thought the cherry would be a good idea since the taste is nice and strong like banana. I'm not sure that white grape or pear would do the trick. I'm getting away with only adding .5-1 ounce of banana now. That flavor seems to be a good one for this.

Sorry Sara, Lesley is right...I worded that wrong. Yes it is 4 oz of actual juice a day, and it should be watered down 50/50. So he should be fine with 3 oz.

K, thanks...i wondered that myself. It's practically less than an ounce, just enough to add a hint of flavor to his water. Since the ped put him on the karo syrup water he has not wanted to drink plain water because he's SO USE to the sugar taste. I find a lot less calories in the juice than the karo syrup so I use that to add a bit of flavor. I'm planning on trying to work it less and less so he's getting plain water again.

I would think cherry would be okay Maggie as everything here is cherry flavoured for babies- like their meds.
My boys WILL NOT drink water OR baby juice. I couldn't even imagine trying to get them to drink 3oz of the stuff!

My boy refuses juice also, Sarah. He takes a sip of the stuff, and throws the sippy cup on the floor and looks like I was trying to poison him.

Cady does that with formula in a cup. Sip, yucky face, pitch the cup to the other side of the kitchen. She'll only take about 1/2 an ounce of juice from a cup, whether I water it down or not. I'm thinking she just doesn't like the cup, but then again, she won't drink juice from a bottle, either.

Sam thing here... :? Anything but water gets the cup pitched across the room. Great, especially since our ped said that we need to be getting rid of bottles and giving milk in a sippy.

If Noah were physically capable of chucking a bottle of formula across the room, he'd do it in a heartbeat. As a matter of fact, he'd probably then stomp on it and set it on fire. Not diluted juice, though.

Maggie, I think that's what Cady would do with those stupid cups I keep shoving at her. Don't worry, he'll be chucking those bottles across the room in no time. Cady chucked a bottle of soy at my Mom's head. Now, that's the way to say, "hey! I don't like this!" Cady's so obnoxious about stuff like that.

I guess I should be glad that Emma likes her sippy. She will drink anything out of it. Water, formula, diluted juice, plain juice....

On the other hand, she HATES her bottle....

It is good that Emma likes the sippy. We went through a stage that they would hold it and bring it to their mouth. Now, they throw it over the side the minute I give it to them. I actually use those normal water bottles with the "thingmy bob" on the top (9not sure what it's called) and they seem to do better with that. i am concerned about their lack of fluid intake though. Hmmmmmmm....

Sarah, do they like straw sippy cups?
