Does anyone else know when "normal" kids stop with the baby food? Nathan will still take it if I distract him, which is good since he won't eat hardly any veggies and fruits as finger foods. But at what point should I stop? Tonight at dinner, I didn't spoon feed him, and he played around with noodles and cheesy cauliflower. He probably ate three noodles, and a couple bites of cauliflower before he started throwing food off the tray and was soooo done. Is that enough? I just worry that without baby food, he won't be getting enough. (Then again, his weight isn't a problem anymore. :? )

Well, with Kaylin, she was DONE with baby food by 8 months, strictly on finger food. She hated being fed by me. Most days, she ate such small amounts...three green beans, two cubes of chicken, 4 cubes of peach for one meal for example. Believe me he'll eat more when he's in a growth spurt. Most toddlers really don't need a lot to grow on and most regulate their own feedings. I don't think you need to keep supplementing with puree if he's eating finger foods okay...even in small amounts.

Well, the boys are 11 1/2 months old now (10 months adjusted age) and we don't have any baby food as such anymore. They have what we have for meals, although I tend to mix it altogether and I do feed it to them. They also have stewed fruit and baby custard (the only baby product I buy now). mixed together. They also have finger foods too.
When I mix the meats and veges together, it's pretty chunky. I am soon going to start just giving them table foods and cooking veges up, chopping them into cubes and they can feed themselves.
They say that you decide when and what to eat, and the child decides how much. I know that with reflux, some kids don't eat that well so I'm not sure if that advice applies, but I'd give him a few days to try it out and see. How much formula does he take now?? My boys are down to 2 bottles a day (morning and night) of about 5 -6ozs only.
Oh Sheila, our babies are growing up!! BOOHOO!!!
