View Full Version : How often do you have to get up to your GERDling at night?

Just curious to know how many of us are up at nighttime. For the last 2 months I have been up 5-6 times every night between the 2 boys... I think it's been a mixture of the "slapped cheek" virus they had and teeth that made them miserable. Admittedly I only have to get up to them for 5 minutes or so.. usually to pat their butt or put their paci in. I never feed at night now.. except for the other night at midnight where STephen would just not settle and was hysterical
The last couple of nights haven't been so bad.. only up 1-2 times. But then again, they are almost a year old and I was hoping to have a few more restful nights!!! We did go through a period for a couple of months where they both slept from 10pm- 5am.. it was VERY nice!!

Ohhhh..at this point, dh and I worry that we'll still be getting up with her when she's in junior high school!

Bethany is almost 13 months old and still awakens b/t 6-10 times per night. A good night is 5-6 times up fussing to nurse, nursing, then back to sleep. A bad night is up more than this with gas/illness/reflux and unable to get her back to sleep (about 3 times a week).

I must tell you that most days I just barely manage to function like a normal human being. Many days, I am a grouchy mess.

And no, naps are NOT half as restorative as several hours of uninterrupted sleep!

On average it's 3-5 times actually... lately since she is sick and gassy she has been getting up every HOUR!!!

Granted I do not have to feed her but spend maybe 5 mins with her getting her to calm down and go back to sleep.

I guess it's one of those silver linings that even when D was very young, he'd rather sleep than eat. Since he was about seven months old (four adjusted), he's basically slept through the night most nights. Even when he was sick or teething, it was a very bad night if he woke up twice.

Emma goes down at 8:30. She wakes up several times before I dream feed her...just cries out and I go in and she's trying to look for her pacifier. I just pop it back in and she's good to go. At midnight, before I go to bed, I do a dream feed, (the GI said to continue them). Then, she wakes up around 5:00...and I just give her the pacifier and pat and shush her bottom.

She gets up for the day at 7:30.

So, in total...usually 5 times...but I included her night feed b/c that is another time that I am in her room...assisting with sleep, in a way.

On sick nights...it's almost every hour. She is just not a self-soother yet. :(

I wanted to say 1-2, but things are getting worse around here thanks to an ongoing cold and the introduction of solids plus a noneating GERDling. Noah's not a self-soother either. He won't take a pacifier, he hates to be rocked, and he sure as h*ll won't take a bottle to feel better. So, when he's up, he's up, and its no 5 minute ordeal. Its really tough, especially since I've been battling a sinus and ear infection for a couple of months and need rest, and dad has no patience and even when he does volunteer to get up with him, he ends up waking me out of desperation. Maybe someday Noah will sleep through the night. (He has before, so I know he's capable.)

Usually once if at all around 5am to give him back his paci and leave the room. SOMETIMES I have to get him up and nurse but lately he stays down for another hour and a halfish. HE sleeps 730-630 on average. Sometimes a bit earlier sometimes until 7am.

I didnt sleep for 10 years. People think Im joking or exaggerating, Im not. Until we were told to elevate his mattress (thanks for not bothering to mention that doc), he never slept thru a single night or went without pain or vomiting acid all over his bed.
