Reading through some of other questions, I noticed that green poo is a common topic. Little Noah still gets breast milk with a little soy formula for extra calories, plus an average of 3 oz of solids a day. His poop went from the typical breast fed baby (yellow and seedy), then to more brown and more formed. The last couple of times he's gone, its been either watery and green or pasty and green and really, really stinky! I noticed this seemed to happen a day after having custard. Do you think the sudden change in color and consistency and odor is allergy related or his body getting used to new foods?

Ah, the green poo rears its ugly head again!
I think Noah is 7 months old, right? Kids who are just starting solids and trying new foods will produce every colour in the rainbow it seems. Get used to some funky stuff due to their immature digestive system learning to cope with food.
Green poop could be caused by the actual colour of the food. For instance, feeding Walker peas or beans meant a green poop, but nothing was wrong with that. Nor is a vibrant orange poop coming from carrots and sweet potatoes. What is a problem is when it is mucousy, kind of slimmy green and sometimes like a gelatin as that can indicate irritation of the intestines. All you do if you suspect that is pull back to foods you know are "safe" for a few days until it clears up and then introduce a food again for a few days (say at least 4) and see how it goes. If all goes well, then try another food for another 4 days, keep rotating.
The smell is a hard one to say right now as you are used to those blessed little inoffensive breastmilk poops, so anything else even if normal will smell absolutely retched to you. A metallic smell to the poop is not good and if you pull back to what is safe and the "smell" aspect goes away, yet the poop remains brown then I would say it was probably mucous that caused the smell.
Uh, was that clear in any way? LOL I need another coffee...

Leigh has given you a wonderful reply (thanks Leigh!! )
For the most part, green poop is normal. And yes, you have to get used to the ICKY smell- ewwwww!! That happens once they start the solids *sigh*

I still remember our first "solids" poop from Walker. I did not have any warning about the carrots changing the poop bright orange and thought he had been poisoned or something. Don't worry, it still is funky even when they are older as you see those corn bits and other uh, "chunks" at times.
Yummers.
