Frankie was placed on Prevacid Capsules yesterday. I just gave him his dosage of 15 mg and I can barely get to take 2 ounces without passing out. Yesterday, he slept for four hours after I gave him the medicine. Is this normal? I'm wondering if I should give him the Prevacid at night instead of during mid-day...The ped. told me to give inbetween the Zantac Efferdoses....Any suggestions?

It has never made Mag sleepy. Maybe he's going through a growth spurt and needs the extra zzz's.

Yeah...that's possible...but he doesn't sleep all day...he's having a real rough time going down for his naps....he is sleeping maybe 30 minutes out of a 4 hour period...and when he takes this medicine...its like he becomes a zombie! How long did it take for you to see results in the reflux? Did it help the refluxing or just the pain?

It's just for pain and it can take up to 10 days to kick in. I doubt this is the reason since it doens't really work this way, but maybe he's just feeling so good after his meds that he finally can sleep.

Ditto what Jennifer said! When we finally gave Nathan a PPI, he starting sleeping sooo much better, because he was finally comfortable.

Hopefully that is why he is so sleepy, that would be nice wouldn't it?

Noah's Prilosec, which is similar, has never made him sleepy, but I can see where he might sleep better if he's feeling so good! I hope that's what's causing it! Hope it continues!

I decided to flip Frankies schedule around...Instead of giving him Prevacid at 2 pm...I'm going to give it to him at the 6 feed, and the Zantac at 12pm and 12 am...Hopefully that will help him sleep a little better...The mid-morning feeds (3 am) are the worst for him. He can't fall back to sleep for at least 2 hours even though I keep the lights dim and put him right back to bed....exhausted! Any help with making those feeds easier?
