I ordered a few of these...what should I put in them. They should arrive today, and I'm really excited. I've heard about frozen grapes (I think from Sara) but will that hurt his tummy? How much and what do you fill them with? Noah's teething like a maniac...

Maggie

I just bought one of those too for my little Noah. He hasnt quite gotten the hang of it yet. He thinks its more fun to look at it. I did use the nets with my other two boys when they were little and found that peaches was a hit. I also did pears. I semi froze them when they were teething and they loved it! I've heard of others putting in crushed ice cubes for teathing. I know of some moms that have put strawberries in them, but I never felt comfortable because they are a highly allergic food and didnt want to chance it until they were older.

Good luck and I hope he improves his bottle feedings. I can sympathize all to well!!

Oh, gosh, we put everything in them. Watemelon, cantelope, peaches, apples, pears, grapes, mango, even chicken. When he is teething, we put an ice cube in. Just beware, those net feeders are MESSY, especially with juicy fruits. (Not that life with a GERDling isn't messy anough already... ).

Any he really won't choke?

Nope. :D The net feeders really only let out juice, and very very tiny pieces of solid food.

Frozen banana slices. I cut them in about half-inch thick pieces to freeze and then cram 2 into the feeder. If you don't fill it full, it's hard to get much out of it through the mesh. Catherine will only eat bananas in hers.

BEWARE ... it's a mess! Although great fun to watch. Strip Noah's shirt off before you try i!

Maggster,
You can put ANYTHING in there and he will not choke...from one paranoid mom to the other
We have only gotten to grapes. Not frozen but from the frige, they get pretty chilly. I had to squeeze them a bit so he could taste it and then he went to town with it. They can get messy, like they said but they love it...most of them anyhow. Good luck hope Noah likes it!

I'm so excited! I hope he likes it! :D Thanks for the suggestions. I think I might try the pears, peaches, or bananas since we've tried all these in baby foods. Not that he really likes any of them, but maybe this will be more fun for him. He seems to like to control what goes in his mouth, so this might be the answer.

Just FYI, Zac didn't like the pears unless I chopped them into tiny squares first, I guess they were a bit hard for him to mush around any bigger than that.

one thing she's really liked in there is meat. turkey & chicken so far. she's not a big far of baby meats so this way she can "nibble" on them.

Yep...we put everything and anything in Emma's. Her favorite is icecubes, though. :D

Keep us posted! :D

Noah loves his Safe Feeder! We tried grapes yesterday. He liked them, but I didn't let him have it too long since I'm worried about a stomach ache. Today, I broke a biter biscuit in half and shoved it in there. He's going to town on it now! There are so cool!

I was thinking about asking you how that was going, Maggie...awesome! You know, I told you you could put anything in there, and *I* never thought about putting his cookies in there so I don't have to sit there and break them up!
How was his tummy after the grapes?

Sara

Today, I tried grapes again, and he cringed and wouldn't bite it again. :( The biter biscuit was such a hit, I think I'll try that again tomorrow. I'd never given him one until then, but he seemed to like it.

Yeah, Zac has LOVED his grapes now for a while. Lately though, he's not liking to chomp on them...I *think* it could be bothering his teeth that BETTER be coming through soon!

Maggie..
So pleased to hear the net feeder is going well. They have only JUST started selling them here and they are a mighty price. But my guys are just that bit older now and cope with finger foods. Wish they were around months again.
Pleased that you are having some success.. feeding time is always such a worry. WTG Noah!!

Ahhh...Zac is so cute. I wish he and Noah lived closer. They would definitely be friends. :D They could chomp on their safe feeders together... Watermelon's a great idea, but I must say, with Noah's latest tummy issues, I'm skeptical about introducing anything new until we see the GI. In the meantime, I'm sure he'll still enjoy his biscuits.

I got ours in the mail about 2 weeks ago and Owen loves it. He eats anything in it that he can tolerate. I filled it with some german baby cookies and he went crazy on them. I also filled them with the Gerber graduate veggie crackers and he likes those too.

Maggie, so glad Noah likes his baby safe feeder.

I remember when I heard about them, I called so many local places and drove all over and FINALLY got it, I didn't care about the cost, if there was a chance Shae-Lynne would try it then I was going to get it. Then I UPS it to Roni, so it took about two weeks of waiting and unfortunately Shae just would not try it at all....

I am always open to any ideas though...she did lick a pickle once!

Maggie, you'll have to post a picture of Noah chomping on his cookie, we'd love to see

Here's Noah enjoying his net. He likes ice the best, now. You probably already thought of this, but I use a pacifier attacher thingy (don't know the name for these) to attach the feeder to a strap on his highchair. He kept launching his over the side, and no five second rule here. Dog hair...yuck...

Very cute! And no..I never thought of ice, go figure that MR. Noah would preferring bland tastes, that's as bland as it comes...haha.
I also never thought of the paci leash either.

That's a great idea Maggie, we have 2 cats and I always end up taking a new net when Owen drops it on the floor. Now I can use the paci clip to prevent that. Thanks.
