I know we all deal with this, but MAN DOES THIS SUCK. I've had an all-out WAR for the past 5 months getting this child to take his bottles. Really, longer than that... He'll scream and fight and kick and attempt to fling himself off my lap when we sit down with a bottle. Usually, I fixed the bottle because he's hungry and well over-do. If I can't get him to start sucking, or he does the famous suck, stop, cry, suck, stop, cry, I'll try a bottle with waterered down juice, water, or pedialyte if I have it. HE TAKES THE BOTTLE, THEN! Only for an ounce or two, then he starts choking because that infant #1 nipple flows so d*mn fast  and then I'm back to square one. I was just wondering if anyone has some good advice for me. The stronger he gets, the harder this is...

Emma's complete opposite. :? We're on Dr. Brown's Level 3, and they're not fast enough. That's why she loves the sippy.

I hope someone responds to help. Poor you and Noah! :(

we had trouble getting the right flow. i know the playtex nurser level 1 nips are pretty slow. they were the slowest we used.

I'd try a slower flow nipple, like mentioned, and smaller more frequent feeds.

Dr Browns has a Preemie nipple that flows quite slow... you might want to check that out :)

I didn't know there was such thing as a premie nipple. I'll look into that. Thanks! Oh yeah, we do small, frequent feeds as it is.

My 5 month old also has aversion. She will take 1 ounce then start screaming and fighting to get away. the only way I can get her to take more is by getting her sleepy then feeding her. She has reflux and delayed emptying. You could try the Haberman feeder- it has different flows on the same nipple.
