I copied this too the quest. board also cause I wanted to get EVERYBODY'S opinion.
Ok Braden just started Prevacid, a whole solutab in the morn and at night, about a month ago.
Because the scope showed he had eociniphills (sp) in his esophagus. We have tested for allergy all that ..its reflux. The only symptom of reflux he has though is the fact that the kid doesn't eat anything. I mean that if I didn't beg him to have a few bites through out the day he would gladly go all day with out eating. So there is some background for ya.
Anyway so we started the Prevacid...it has helped him appetite a little but not enough for me to get too excited. But at the same time he has stopped taking naps, started being REALLY whiney, been getting up at the crack of dawn and being very defiant. This is just not like him. I know it could be age or just a phase but I really am about to lose it. Especially on top of being in the middle of a bad reflux time with Emma. Braden is 2.5 BTW. Do any of you think the prevacid could be causing my child to appear to be possessed by the devil?? I welcome all insight.

I don't know about medically or if it is coincidentally but recently did a test run of prevacid and Eli was a wreck so we stopped, same type of things plus an upset stomach so... maybe it could be possible??

I am sorry to hear this. It could be the prevacid because meds act differently in each child. I would call the doc and let them know what you are seeing and see what they say. I am also wondering if the doc has ever mentioned periactin to you,it is a med that helps increase appetite. We have used this with my son and I know other children that have and are still using it. I do know that it does work and help with increasing childs appetite. I do wish you luck.

Hmm, I'm wondering with the Eosinophil's in the biopsies if the Dr. has indeed ruled out Eosinophilic Gastroenteritis ? As for the behavior it could be the meds but, it should level out in about 2 weeks of receiving the meds the same time every day. It could also be he's just hitting his season for reflux at the same time as your daughter. I know Noah hits his season in October and it will last strong and hard thru January. The 1st sign for us is Noah not sleeping well and being a little stinker.
