I moved Connor from his bassinet to his crib about a week ago and he has been sleeping horribly (which means so have I ) ever since. He use to sleep through the night most nights anyway and now he wakes up 3 to 4 times a night. Not to feed he just seems really uncomfortable! Has anyone else had this problem? I built a nest in there and he has a little blankie that he's slept with since he was a few weeks old. It almost seems like he doesn't want to sleep on his back anymore. He tries to roll on his side but then always ends up on his back again. I've gotten to the point that even when he is sleeping I can't sleep because my ears are perked up waiting for the next time he wakes up and fusses. It's so hard because his bedroom is all the way on the other side of the house so in the middle of the night I have to keep stumbling to his room.

Since Connor is seeming to want to sleep on his side, have you tried propping him in that position?

Was the bassinet in your room? It could just be that he's having a hard time adjusting to the difference in sound. I know things sound very different in our house from room to room. I never noticed before how loud the pipes are - but in Ian's room you can hear when someone flushes a toilet downstairs! You can hear if we run bath water in our room all the way across the house! Plus, he isn't hearing you breathing when he stirs. Are you trying to have him nap in the crib as well? You might consider putting the bassinet in his room and then alternating between that and the crib until he gets used to the room itself.

Oh! Also, check the air flow. Ian's room gets very stuffy, but his crib has to be in a certain corner of the room or else the air from the vent creates a wicked draft!

My tip for you...get some white noise in your bedroom, whether it is a fan, humidifier or sound machine. This will help to drown out some of those household noises and the baby noises. Don't worry...you'll still hear him when he cries!

My boys have always slept in their cot, in thier own room (they share) from the day they came home form the hospital. SO we didn't have any problems with transitioning but we did go through a horrible patch where what worked best for us was baby mozart (CD) on replay (it played ALL night long) and that helped enormously!!! My hubby couldn't believe it and asked why we hadn't done it earleir!!
I also agree wiht Erin & Janette... maybe propping on his side will help. Must be uncomfortable being in the same position every hour of every night.

Hi there thanks for the replies! We did have Connor's bassinet in his crib for about two weeks but he would slide down to the bottom of it and his feet would be straight in the air. It didn't look to comfortable so I decided it was time to move him since he had gotten use to his new room. I try to position him on his side with a rolled up towel but he is very active and all over the place so he moves a lot. I did see the picture of the nest on one of the postings and I was actually making it wrong. I was using a rolled up towel at the bottom and not a pillow. The pillow seems to help although he still ends up sideways but at least it's against the pillow and not wedged at the bottom of his crib.I think I also might have created a problem with the binky. He may be waking up because he loses it.

Brandon did that as an infant, until he learned to find it and to reinsert it, that is. Could you try "hand-over-hand" to help him find it and to put it back in?

By binky, I assume you mean pacifier?? Well, we always had that problem. I tried the hand over hand thing too and it worked okay. I now have several pacifiers in the cot so they can at least find 1 when they need it!! :D Mind you, they were around 7-8 months before they figured it out for themsleves!!
