View Full Version : Do you think this will work for a nest?

Well, I built a nest, so to speak.

Elevated the mattress with a bed pillow. I think it is up about 4 inches - without the baby on it. I figure we will start low and see if we need to add.

I also think I will use the sleep positioner for the sides and I rolled up flannel sheets to put at the bottom instead of a pillow. Rolled up they are about 4 inches high. It lays across from crib rail to crib rail. I put the boppy pillow under that just for some leverage.

Now I just have to have the nerve to use it. I mean, it isn't like things are really going well in the car seat, but at least I know what to expect! I am such a wimp.

Meg--

Sorry, I must have missed this. Have you tried the nest yet? It sounds fine, but what do you mean by elevating with a pillow? Our crib is adjustable, and to elevate it even more, I put a few phone books under each leg at the head of the crib (if he has a stuffy nose).

I put the bed pillow under his mattress. So the mattress - not the crib - is elevated.

I have not tried it yet, I am a wimp. Like I said I have such a fear that it will be a disaster! But at the same time what we are doing isn't perfect. (car seat) He isn't the worst sleeper on the boards, but I am probably the worst at handling the sleep deprivation on the boards! I find it so overwhelmingly depressing.....sigh

Noah slept in his carseat up until about a month and a half ago, and let me tell you, the transition was NOT easy. We got to the point where Noah was way too big for the carseat and bouncy seat, so he had to sleep in his crib. The nest is a nice transitional tool as it is nice and cozy like the carseat. I promise, you will not regret making the transition asap. It would have been MUCH easier if Noah was younger!

Hi Meg..
Sounds like your nest is perfect... but you won't know unless you try!!!  I agree with Maggie... the sooner you do it, the easier the tranistion!!!
I've said it before and I'll say it again.. sleep deprivation is a wicked thing. I think we all feel pretty rotten when we have such disturbed sleep.
Go on..try the nest..... I look forward to hearing how it went...!!!
